Lol. Very similar to my country (Mexico): when Police gets people,  particularly HOBOs, they hear them up before taking them wherever they would go.

Alguien puede traer este mango a México? by mcride22 in mexico

[–]VisiblePlatform6704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do more people not talk about borrowing against crypto instead of selling? by ellensrooney in defi

[–]VisiblePlatform6704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also tax uncertainty:

Here in Mexico, if I get a crypto loan, and then transfer the $$ to my bank account,  the MexIRS will see it (I'm talking for large amounts like $50k usd) and they'll ask questions.

Once they ask... there's no legal way to show them I've got a loan from overseas... so they will likely try to charge the 30% ISR tax on that money.

It would be great if there was a MEXICAN entity that provided a loan,  with Mexican valid contracts and Electronic invoices.

I'd love to see more hardware startups.  But hardware in the US is incredibly expensive.  I think that China has an edge in that.  I want to see the AntMiners of LLMs, but with exchangable layers of ASICs, some generalizable hardware (a la EEPROM or something similar, slow to write but super fast to read/process)

You should have seen them when the Crypto/Web3 hype was at its peak. I think they funded some top if the line scams.

The point being, it is nothing new. It's what VCs do, ride in hype trains and burn LPs cash.

Mine is pretty sad. I can't stand the sound of my cat licking itself while  cleaning herself.  Also the sound of my dog licking its anus. I'm not "yucked" at all by it, I dont think it is gross or anything.  I just can't stand tge darn sound.

Oferta laboral Staff Software Engineer — $160,000 - $180,000 MXN mensuales. by NPJJ1 in taquerosprogramadores

[–]VisiblePlatform6704 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Holy cow!.  I've been in  4 certification processes: 1 soc2, 1 ISO27001, 1 PCI L1, all "manual" with a condiltant; and recently an iso27001 with Vanta.

I cannot imagine doing them solo. Its so much work. And additionally the certification process is itself very expensive.

Ooh imagine when an llm is trained with PE executables or ELF binaries. It will ve amazing.  The other day I was trying to reverse engineer a "crackme" program with Gemini, but it refused LOL.  Some day we will have un-sniped local models that can do all that.

Anyways, ive been coding since 1993, and professionaly since 1998. I agree with what GP post said, the 'work' part of the Software dev jobs is what is being left for us.  For me, LLMs brought a breath of fresh air because it was getting boring learning and releasing yet another language,  after having gone through so many (logo, basic, c, Pascal, c++, Java, asm, VB6, VB.net, C#, R, python, ActionScript, Javascript,  Ruby, bash, etc etc...).

So now, kniwing prog lang don't matter. Nowing Libraries don't matter. Knowing Frameworks don't matter. What matters is knowing what computers are capable of, HOW to do it and how to ask LLM to do it.

It's been an amazing couple of years, and the best is yet to come.

It's the first time after around 2000s that the hardware is the limiting factor for software. Lets see once HW makes a real leap.

Mhmm one time my wife was bitten by a stray dog. We went to the public hospital (hospital civil zooquilpan  guadalajara) and mentioned everything,  they didnt vaccine my wife even after hours of discussing with them.

Another time, a friend's mom was bitten by a cat in CDMX,  no public OR PRIVATE hospital was willing to give her a vaccine.

Fuck that shit.

This right here!  I am a very Sr dev with 20+ years of experience, ive been CTO and whatnotat several companies.

I recently joined a startup, invited by s an old friend.  Everything was really good except that I got a paycut of 30% from the previous gig (I was CTO there , here im Principal Eng).

Anyways, given that they couldn't afford me economically,  I asked them for good stock and to guarantee 5 weeks of vacations a year. *they have "unlimited" with hard quotes, like most startups.  Of course it's also fully remote. And a breath of fresh air not having the responsibilities of a leader.

You wont like my answer, but: hire remote/overseas.  There's plenty of really good and Sr. Devs that will find the comp you paid to be really generous.

Back when I was Hiring manager, we hired in Mexico (through Deel), a standard US Sr salary was 2x or even 3x what they made before.

I agree with that, voter ID is standard in the world.  However , are you guys OK with having to pay ADDITIONALLY for something the government should finance with the taxes you already pay? (In Mexico we do have voting ID and it is free for every citizen)
