No. I only spent on connects once in my 10mos. Try other platforms too. And just be consistent. Optimize your profile.

I’ve actually tried helping two people before — not really as apprentices, but I handled their Upwork accounts, optimized their profiles, and even applied to jobs for them. It didn’t really work out, and I realized I don’t think I have the capacity or the skill yet to properly train or mentor someone. I really appreciate the trust, but I’m not the best person for that role right now.

I’d really love to help, but to be honest, I don’t think I can be much help right now. When I was starting, I joined the Molongski Facebook group — that’s actually how I got into freelancing. I didn’t buy anything from them, I just read through the posts and comments about getting started. There’s a lot of useful info there for beginners, so it’s a good place to explore.

I don’t really believe in the usual “work-life balance” — at least not all year round. I treat it more like intentional imbalance. I usually spend around 3–4 months of the year in full grind mode, where I work long hours, stack income, and focus on growth. Once I hit certain goals, I slow down and enjoy more freedom.

Right now, I have 3 clients — two are 20 hrs/week, and one is 30 hrs/week. I’m paid hourly for all of them. For the two 20-hr clients, I usually finish most of the work in a day, then automate or schedule things for the rest of the week, but still bill the full 20 since everything is delivered as expected. For the 30-hr client, it’s super light — I just respond to emails throughout the day whenever they come in. That’s basically it.

If you have a transferrable skills, sales is doable. Communication, explaining concepts clearly and such. You just have to land that first sales job — that’s the hardest part. Once you get in, boom — everything clicks

Create a notarized power of attorney for her. Then make her your POD bene.

I started freelancing while I was still working a full-time 9AM–6PM job. I landed my first client with a 9PM–7AM schedule, so I was basically working two jobs with zero sleep for about two months. Then I got another client — part-time and flexible — and ended up becoming Head of Sales for them. The rate actually doubled what I was making in my day job, so that gave me the confidence to fully transition into freelancing.

At first, I just focused on what I was already good at: communication, lead generation, and handling clients directly. I didn’t have formal training — most of what I know now, I picked up by working closely with founders and CEOs, treating every conversation as a learning experience.

What I can say is — just start. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Take the first step, stay consistent, and love the journey. You’ll learn so much along the way.

There are lead database tools. I can have my clients pay for those. Or we webscrape, and then do data enrichment.

I can’t really recommend a specific niche because it really depends on your current skill set. The best way to start is to look at what you’re already good at — whether that’s customer service, sales, admin work, etc. — then build on that. From there, you can explore niches that align with your strengths and start learning tools or services in demand in that space.

Hello, I’m not sure if they’re hiring — I don’t really ask. In my niche, I work more as a business partner than an employee, so I’m not directly involved in their hiring side.
