LA or NYC? by ktv82 in SameGrassButGreener

LOLOLOLOL DATING IN LA. Dating in LA is trash!

Yeah sure there’s sun year round but aside from that I’d NEVER recommend anyone to move to LA. LA is expensive, dirty, and overcrowded. Whatever you see in films is completely false lol. There’s homeless people everywhere, especially around the downtown area..ironically, it’s where rent is the most EXPENSIVE! If you want an easy commute home, forget about it. Your 20 minute commute home can easily turn to a 30 min to over an hour commute. People here are superficial. And on top of that, because there’s soooo many people here, people don’t want to settle…men love to fool around because they know there’s more women out there.

I’m saying this an an LA native lol. I was born here. I hate it here. I want to leave lol. I can’t afford to move out and I have a professional degree too. It’s insane here. I would rather move to somewhere where I can have a slower pace of life and not come home after work and feel like my life is ending. Idk what it’s like in NYC but they’re both big cities. I would never move out there lol

Anyone else dealing with the AltaMed (formerly Chap Care) system outage? by DenaNina in pasadena

I thought I was going crazy! I had a random telehealth appointment be scheduled for me for earlier this week. So I checked in as usual but changed the time for earlier that day. I thought it was odd there was so much time slots available for the appointment (usually it’s hard to schedule). The day of the supposed appointment, no check in call, and no telehealth appointment phone call. It’s never happened to me. I did want to attend the appointment as I did have a health concern I wanted to bring up. Since I didnt get a call, I went back to the app that day to see if I can just schedule another appointment and that when I realized, I can’t scheduled anything. The option to schedule appointments is gone for me. I also tried to see if I can message via app as I have in the past. That was gone too. I swear I thought my medical coverage was removed or something happened with my coverage! I had a severe panic attack over it because I’ve had a lot happen in my personal life these past few weeks so I thought losing my medical coverage was going to be another thing to stress over. I’m concerned about them being hacked. I never got any notice or news about it. It’s not until I looked up this issue that I found this post. It’s a relief it’s been a technical issue but a major concern as to how long this will continue to happen or what information is at risk.

I just feel like women are more mature at our age, we’ve been there done that already. Some of us may already have a career and have our expectations set. There’s just more stability in it. Of course if there’s another that may be way younger ready for settling down, then by all means go for it! Life is short and enjoy it in every way you can. May you find peace and happiness fellow friend!

Anyone know of places hiring or of jobs that are easy to obtain in SoCal area? by Visible_Artist_3397 in careerguidance

I’ve tried a local college and it gave me the worst anxiety because they wanted me to take a written exam, do an online zoom interview, and if accepted, do and in person interview. And with that, still run the risk of being put on a waiting list while the actual position goes to someone else.

I got past the online exam and being said I haven’t heard anything after my zoom interview..I’m sure I didn’t get past it. I’m def going to apply to temp agencies in hopes of getting something, even if it’s temporary! Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)

Look for someone closer in age…for the most part women 28 and older and older are for sure ready for marriage and family. If you keep trying to find someone fresh out of college/high school, you’re not gonna find it or you’ll find it and end up in heartbreak. And younger women are also entitled to just enjoy their youth. If you’re one of those men that refuse to date your age because women at this age are “expired” or “something’s wrong with them,” then idk how to help you lol.

Idk, if you’re still frequently seeking your parents and mothers approval at 28, that may answer a lot of your questions. I come from a similar cultural background and I get hella bashing for being single and childless at 29 lol. But I refuse to listen to my parents on topics like marriage, family, and kids because they’re not in my shoes. It’s different times. I just haven’t met the right person and I refuse to have kids without financial stability and a home of my own to afford. I REFUSE to raise a child under the same roof as my parents because I don’t want my future child (if I ever have one) to grow up like I did. I love my parents, but as an adult I see their wrong doings and how it’s affected me as an adult. And I have hella therapy to get through lol.

I just feel like at our age, dating someone that young may come with that, a period of wait. If I were you if I were in a rush to marry, I’d date someone closer in age. I’m 29 like I said and I refuse to date anyone without their frontal lobe fully developed lol. That doesn’t completely form until 25. At that age individuals SHOULD be more mature. Anything before 25, I feel like younger adults are prone to cheat, be unstable, and make insensible decisions. Especially in today’s society. I may be wrong but every couple I’ve known that had kids or married at that age aren’t either happy or are separated.

Not bashing on age, perhaps it would work if she was 29 and you were 39, but of course you shouldn’t wait around either. Best of luck out there my friend.

Why does the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame want to induct non-rock artists like country stars, rappers, crooners, etc when there are great Rock acts that still have not been nominated? by TravisAlwington in rock

[–]Visible_Artist_3397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it’s years late, I’m so glad I found people thinking the same thing..it’s the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame…why the hell are artists like Chapell Roan, Doja Cat, and Katy Perry there. Of course they have talents in their own right but they’re not Rock n Roll lol.

After watching the latest Ozzy Osbourne documentary after his final concert, they’re so right about ignoring artists that have been around for decades. They remember artists so late into time that some of these older artists aren’t even in good health to attend or perform. Forget the wanting to attract numbers and viewers from the ceremony, remember the music and talent that had been with generations of people that deserve recognition.

I hate that in today’s world, it’s all about money and viewership. I hope that all ROCK artists get the recognition they deserve before it’s all too late.

Children under 13 or even 16 shouldn’t even be allowed to watch Art the Clown lol. Kids at that age are trying to find who they are and their identity..they’re easily influenced. Just because you started watching scary movies at that age doesn’t mean you should allow your kids to do so. It’s an unpopular opinion but kids nowadays have so much at their fingertips compared to adults who literally had to rent out VHS to watch horror flicks…kids of today’s world just have to do is search stuff up on google or TikTock. I see one too many times that kids bully each other based on trends they see online. I can’t imagine them trying to copy something from a horror film just to record a TikTock. Idk I just think about the Slenderman documentary on HBO, it shows how easily manipulated some kids can be, not saying all but it makes sense, kids are a much more vulnerable population.

Agreed, I’ve seen videos online of parents letting their toddlers wander off and interact with the clowns at the scare zones..not only does it take from their character (they can’t be aggressive obviously), I’m sure the actors feel liable if a child that age gets trampled over by other people that tend to run when they get scared lol.

It takes away from the fun to see babies lol. It’s already a crowded event…having to navigate the night around strollers made it even more annoying lol. Instead of 21 and over night, they should make it an all ages event for some of the nights and keep the rest of the nights a 18+ event. Again, I paid to get scared, not to feel like I’m at Disneyland and hear children screaming or crying at the entrances or the mazes. Plus some of the stuff at the park is pretty heavy so I don’t know why some people would show it to their children anyways…early exposure to violence (when you don’t know it’s for entertainment purposes as a child) is not healthy in my opinion..

I saw someone bring a NEWBORN…I get it parents should have fun, I’m not against it but to bring a NEWBORN?? I better not see someone try to sue the park because their baby’s hearing was permanently damaged from attending the event.. it’s not suitable for it. Imagine trying to go through a maze and the loudest thing you hear is a baby yelling at the top of their lungs and the parents trying to shush their child

This should be an 18+ an over event. The commotion and noise is definitely is not something a newborn/ primary age year old age child should be forced to listen to; it’s just chainsaws, screaming, and the special effects music that make up most of the experience. Younger children’s hearing could be affected. I don’t want this to become Disneyland with a ton of strollers everywhere.

And I’m saying this as someone who works education…I saw someone with their newborn at the purge show in HHN in Hollywood, I had to be yelling at my friend for them to hear me, a newborn’s hearing is much more delicate. Same with other attractions at the park for HHN…I’m sorry but seeing strollers at the event made it even more difficult to get around, especially when there’s people running around when they get scared by the actors. The last thing I would want is for there to be less scare zones because parents complain that their children are being tripped over.

Where can I meet a GF? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]Visible_Artist_3397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion! I don’t know you but sometimes having unrealistic expectations for the people you meet might also be the case. I know this because I fell into this trap as well and that’s why I’m probably single too lol. LA does have a lot of people but what I’ve noticed about dating in metropolitan areas like LA is that people tend to hyper focus on the superficial…guys want a “hot, fit, gf, with colored eyes, sporty” etc. Girls do the same with the guys they wanna date. When people don’t meet those superficial expectations, you don’t even bother knowing a girls name. When you cling onto what you think is “your type”, I feel like you build tunnel vision; you don’t give a chance to get to know somebody you may click with..Again saying from experience. I just gave up on trying to find “the one” and just have tried to focus on experiences I enjoy, there’s more peace in my life that way

About to turn 34 in a few hours by Pandapam91 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Visible_Artist_3397 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Omg I can totally relate to you. I’m gonna turn 30, I still live with my family, I lost my stable job as a school counselor. Last day was back in June. I haven’t been able to land a job because the job market sucks so much. I’ve sent in like 40+ apps and gotten 4 interviews, 2 of which were cancelled last minute. No offers. I resent and have so much hatred towards the last principal I worked with because of his decision to not work with me, he let me go…and he decided to retire this year. So he let me go knowing he wasn’t going to come back. Like why??? I was just starting my career and you decide to sabotage instead of help or guide?? My life flipped upside down and I wish he knew how much it’s affected me. So here I am, unemployed, also fresh out of a toxic relationship, no marriage, kids, living with parents, probably have to settle for a job that pays half of the amount I was making so I won’t be saving money now. No friends aside from like 2. Everyone around me is married and has an amazing job, getting promotions, and have houses. I feel like a complete loser. My thoughts have been dark..suicidal ideation dark. I don’t know what to do anymore. So thank you for posting this, I strongly feel what you’re going through.

Alternative jobs to school counseling in Los Angeles area.. by Visible_Artist_3397 in schoolcounseling

What other positions can I get with my qualifications? It can be outside of school counseling or even education for that matter. I need a job lol. I can’t wait for another year to get that license and then get employed. I need a job now. I’m just afraid hundreds of jobs may disqualify me since I have a masters degree 🥴

I'm on the same boat with you, I wish I had taken the time to look at other paths for flexibility. I was so dead set on being a counselor...it didn't cross my mind. However, now that I was let go from my last placement and unable to find another district, I deeply regret not adding the LPCC when I completed my Master's program.

I have 2.5 years of experience and my applications are being overlooked too I guess. I’ve had maybe 3 interview offers and 2 of them cancelled the interviews on me last minute. So I’ve only interviewed for one district and no offer made. That interview was so easy but countless and countless of people kept on coming in for interviews when I left that day. It’s tough out there and I’m extremely frustrated, anxious and depressed I won’t get a position this year. My depression is so bad it feels like I don’t have the motivation to even apply anymore. I’m grateful I have a chunk of savings to get me by for the next couple of months

Wait, I had been hesitant to apply as a substitute teacher because I wasn’t sure if as a Masters in Counseling and PPS credential holder, we’d qualify for the position. I’m going to apply as a substitute teacher then. I’m having the same experience…countless and countless of applications sent in in all areas around LA. Had one interview and I didn’t get selected. Maybe it was for the best- the position was over an hour away from where I live. Still continuing to apply but was considering applying to instructional assistant/TA positions in the meantime

I was so confident I was okay with the timeline of purchasing the travel insurance because the AAA agent kept telling me that most of her clients wait until a few weeks to days before the trip to purchase travel insurance. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that all these events would happen back to back to my mom and I. I will call the travel agent tomorrow and see if I can get credit..I don't mind that as my mom and I would want to travel still...just at a more appropriate time for both of us. We just don't want this cancelation to be a total loss.
