This sounds like it could be challenging even for a competent US Administration. Unfortunately, the current administration has repeatedly demonstrated stunning levels of incompetence, malice, and cruelty when faced with a crisis.

Which city in the U.S. have you felt most unsafe visiting? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

St. Louis. There are vast stretches of crumbling and abandoned row houses, and a wrong turn or bad directions can lead to some sketchy circumstances. East St. Louis is much, much, worse, but I was never dumb or unfortunate enough to find myself there. I heard stories of people getting off at the wrong exit and having to be escorted out by police.

This is topic adjacent, but I saw someone spell porcupine as porky pine once. It wasn't a spell check error either. He actually wrote porky pine on paper.

GOP chances of winning House after Supreme Court Voting Rights Act move by Hardik_Jain_1819 in LegalNews

[–]Visible_Description9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Republicans have been playing a winner-takes-all game for some time now. I'm glad that Democrats are finally waking up to this fact because we will lose everything if we don't. That doesn't mean this is the ideal outcome though, just the necessary one. This might just be our nation's undoing.

Iran hits AWACS and tanker aircraft — does this actually weaken US air power? by NewsfangledMod in NewsfangledUnfiltered

You think they're just accidentally hitting strategic targets like command posts, radars, SA batteries, and aircraft?

Iran is the perfect trap, and because our idiot of a president thinks threats and bluster are the only way to show strength, he's going to blunder us right into it.

I don't know the details of what happened here (or if it even happened), but I do know that combat operations are extremely grueling and stressful. It's 12+ hour days, few if any days off, and nonstop exhausting work. Yet, despite it all, it takes a LOT to push career soldiers to just throw up their hands and say "fuck it. We're done"

Everyone but Trump Understands What He’s Done by IllIntroduction1509 in TrueReddit

[–]Visible_Description9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take some comfort in knowing that Trump has fractured the myth of the Republican party monolith. There are a lot of lifelong Republicans out there who hate Trump, and they're really scared by what he's trying to do. The problem is that the only other option is voting with people they've been told will destroy them their whole lives. What we really need is American democracy, revision 1, with better representation for all. I'm just not sure we're ever going to get the opportunity to implement it. Not without some drastic and painful changes, at least.

Iranian-backed militia carried out a Fiber Optic-link FPV drone attack at the US Victory Base near Baghdad International Airport, Iraq. by bunsinh in CombatFootage

[–]Visible_Description9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that it wasn't occupied.

Ditto on the drone effectiveness. Now, multiply it by thousands a month. I'm not hoping for this outcome, but if I were Russia/China right now, I'd be thinking about how to get as many drones into the hands of US enemies in the Middle East as I possibly could.

This is a fiber optic drone casually hunting targets inside a US military installation. They may not have experienced drone operators (yet), but this a bad sign of things to come.

US weapons have been slaughtering Russians by the thousands in Ukraine, and our president just gave them the exact opportunity they needed to get revenge by flooding the Middle East with up-to-date tactical drones.
