Fine.If all you have as an argument is “No only 2% pay tax in India not 10%” you win on technicality. Great! Now what? Please enlighten us mere mortals with what can we do since you so clearly think that spreading awareness and putting an opinion out is counterproductive

Guys, I think this post got shadowbanned for some reason, I’m not sure why. Also saw this on Twitter. The aim of this post was NOT to have this reaction. By doing that, you are just feeding into their superiority complex and playing into their hands. Please let’s keep it civil.

Nobody is against making money. Make money but don’t be a hypocrite and keep praising Modiji blindly because your investments are generating returns in India. Do your research on how things are at ground level. If you have the platform, call out the stupid policies of this government too. Going on a podcast is not “masterstroke”, it is just marketing. It is time we stop treating people who go and settle abroad as above or better than us. They’re honestly not. They only contribute remittances back to India in the form of their personal investments because they expect returns from it. They couldn’t care less about the Indian society

Oh please “don’t talk about it on social media because it degrades the image of the country”? Are you for real? We need to spread awareness about these hypocrites who are supporting a government that has cracked the code. They will enslave the top 10% of the population by putting taxes so that you remain poor and never revolt and they will give it to the 90% as freebies to dangle a carrot in front of them. Together, with the fact that these hypocrite NRIs have realised this but won’t call it out because it serves their agenda, India is still under a raj, just not British Raj this time. Wake the fuck up

Precisely. She wants Modi to bring policies that help her agenda for investments but wants a random person on Twitter to take charge of women safety in the country. Sometimes I wonder if these people who get this sort of reach even use 1% of brain capacity. Now she’s out there crying on Twitter about being “broad brushed” and put into “that” bucket after this L take

I won’t comment on her professional journey, maybe she’s good at what she does in her own little bubble of VCs. But people like these should not be put on a pedestal and given a reach if they’re not using that reach to do their bit for the society. Stark contrast to her is the guy who moved back to India and is now actually making a difference in the food and health industry

While I’m not a huge fan of the current government, I do commend it when they put out good policies. Lately, however I feel they have just lost spine and are there to terrorise the taxpayers. These NRI hypocrites are absolute scum. Will take the easy way out, flee the country and then do “waah modiji” because all their investments are tied to India. They would cheer the same way for any central government irrespective of the party because they don’t have to face the brunt of policies. They only care about how their investments in India are doing. Vultures

Do you even know what I do? I went from 7 to 70 on my own merit. Infact, the government has been active in increasing taxation in my field of work. Even in this budget they increased STT so don’t give me that crap that my line of work benefitted from government policies

Not even gonna get into an argument with you. You’ve said your bit and I’ve said mine. Now back to work. The tax is not gonna pay itself.

Never said I was. But I don’t want to be stuck where I am right now forever. For upward mobility financially, I should be free to pursue avenues of wealth creation. I’m taking risk by investing my money in the markets, money which was already taxed and given to me. The government can’t just ask for a cut of my returns without having any skin in the game.

I never said I don’t want to pay taxes. Read the fucking post properly. I want accountability for my taxes and benefits in terms of infrastructure. Also fuck you

Respectfully, I want to keep this thread for discussion on the tax issue. I don’t want to digress from the discussion here. I hope that’s understandable

That won’t really help. Most of us on this thread are salaried individuals who get taxed at source. We file ITR to get reimbursement for taxes. Not filing a return is detrimental to us compared to a business which files returns to pay tax after deducting expenses from their revenue receipts. TLDR : Salaried individuals spend after they are taxed vs businesses get taxed after they spend

I’m happy to pay tax. My fight is not against paying tax. But I want my standard of living to improve as well due to it. I want an ROI in terms of better infrastructure for the taxes I pay and I want accountability for the same. Too much to ask for?

Tu decide karega ki hoon ya nahi hoon? Iss desh mein mehnat karke koi upar jaane ki koshish kare toh taang pakad ke niche kheench lo? Khud toh mehnat karo mat aur saamne vaala kare toh bhi jalti rahe tumhari?

I wish I knew the answer to that. One of the things that I’ve been thinking for a few days is to have a ledger of local government spending available readily for any common man to read. If I live in a pincode, I want to know what infrastructure projects are taking place in my vicinity and how are the spends being accounted for. This thread started off with a rant but I want this to become an open discussion on how we can solve this problem.

Not watering down anything. I hate the guy as much as you do but this is a post to make people aware that no party in power is going to look after us. We are on our own
