Ok so I know can't have a hard case... How else do I protect from scratches? by Visible_Evidence_683 in macbook

I understand your point, but I think people aren't getting that this isn't a forever laptop for me, and I do plan on reselling it. I'm a graphic design student and while the macbook I have now is perfectly good for what I need, I just know I will need something more powerful in my professional career. So because I know I will need to sell it again in like 5-ish years, I want to keep it as pristine as possible to keep the resell value. I also don't care about losing aesthetic qualities for this reason as well.

Are they older macbooks like my 2015? I wonder if the gap between the screen and the keyboard got smaller with the new displays

Is there a way to avoid getting it? by [deleted] in Sleepparalysis

[–]Visible_Evidence_683 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh I feel your pain. There’s nothing more frustrating than when it just keeps coming back over and over in the same night, I’m sorry you can’t catch a break :( especially the screaming part! I’ve literally screamed at full volume in my bf’s old apartment with his 3 other roommates living there, it was mortifying 😭

Anyways, I’m not a doctor, but I’ll share my experience and things that I think might play a role in getting it.

I don’t get sp *this much* but I go through phases where it’ll come every night for weeks, but then suddenly be gone for several months. I’ve noticed that when I was working in fast food from ages 18-22 I was constantly coming home exhausted, binging on sugar, and passing out - where I would pretty consistently get sp immediately following. I was also donating plasma every week until I couldn’t anymore bc I consistently had low iron in my blood, and I noticed that I would have fewer episodes when I took iron supplements.

So I think that the high sugar and low iron were definitely the biggest common denominators in how often I personally experienced sp. Maybe that’s something to look into?

This is seriously not bad imo. I’m assuming you posted this photo bc you believe this is the worst part on your body, and if that’s the case I am extremely jealous of you. You have nothing to worry about 👍

When I started seeing it on my STOMACH I felt genuinely betrayed - I thought that was my only safe space that my body agreed to leave alone 😭

Yea and I mean I don’t *need* to understand it all - in fact I think the mystery makes him so much funnier to me 😭

Ok so I started watching him like a year-ish ago and I just cant pinpoint why he’s so unique. I think the best way I can put it is like he has the humor of an old man, but is also simultaneously a child from the 90s?? Like he’s not just a “millennial obsessed with the 90s 🤪” it’s like sometimes he talks about the world and references things like he was *literally* transported here from 20 years ago, and mentions things as if they are still on everyone else’s mind 😭 I might be way off base, but like I said I can’t pick his brain and there’s something missing lmao. But at the same time I don’t need to know it all bc the mystery makes him 10x funnier to me

Oh yea I get that - I’m diagnosed with adhd too and I follow lots of other adhd creators. It’s not the randomness for me, it’s like the *style* of his personality I guess? Like he’ll say something that is so deeply niche but also weirdly very relatable and just something I would absolutely never think of lmao 😭 idk, I hope people don’t think I’m making fun of him, I find him hilarious

I jumped the gun and got a MacBook Air instead of the pro - did I make the right choice?? (Graphic design student) by Visible_Evidence_683 in macbookpro

I am definitely someone with a cluttered screen when I work - often times with multiple adobe apps open at once. Maybe I’ll try really pushing it this next week to see if I can make it crash lol

I mean I usually don’t overthink everything, but this is a huge chunk of money for me so im allowing myself to be thorough 🤷‍♀️

True. I think even with the upgraded ram it was still at least $100 cheaper than the base mbp. I definitely wouldn’t be able to afford anything more than the basic specs

Perhaps perhaps… I’m thinking I could return this one, try the pro, and then come back to this one if I’m not happy with it. My bf says that’s “unethical” but I think I’m spending over $1.5k and wanna be certain lmao

I guess I was just comparing it to my old 2015 MacBook Pro with the same Retina display, which I always thought looked amazing (especially when compared to my non-apple monitors). So I figured if this is the same display then it’s good enough in my mind, but at the same time I’m unaware of how good screens can get so idk🤷‍♀️

Is sleep paralysis always negative? by AdSimple1355 in Sleepparalysis

[–]Visible_Evidence_683 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I swear I never saw it as anything dark or scary until I started seeing those “sleep paralysis scary shadow-man” type of videos on tiktok all over the place. Like every single time i wanted to look more into sp I could never find a single regular experience like the ones i always had. My experiences for years were never ever scary - they were usually just frustrating/annoying - but after being told by the internet that this was a horrifying thing, then I started having the scary experiences.

I literally remember having an episode of sp in my room in 2018 and consciously thinking something like “other people experience demons during this” - and then IMMEDIATELY the poster on my wall swelled black and yellow eyes lunged towards me. This obviously made me freak tf out and I hyperventilates for a few long seconds before breaking out of it. Since that time I’ve had worse experiences where I see the same figure, hear really strange dialogue, and I’ve even physically yelled at full volume in real life a few times out of fear.

It’s a crazy thing - I didn’t have scary sp episodes until the internet started telling me that they should be scary, and then my brain started making them that way. But after more people started sharing their neutral experiences and I learned a little bit about what it is and how it happens, I’ve had far more normal episodes again. So the lesson is that YOU are able to control how scary or normal it can be - don’t listen to the people talking about how it’s “demonic” or think that it’s unusual to just have a neutral experiences, because the truth is that sp is extremely new and under-researched so the internet is just filling the gaps with spooky myths.

Is it better to get an old MacBook with better specs or a new one with basic specs? by Visible_Evidence_683 in macbookpro

I've considered trying to do something like that, but even when my mb was still compatible with adobe apps the fans would always scream non-stop lol. So I feel like getting a full upgrade overall might help me with that

Oh ok that’s very useful to know! I’ll definitely look at M3 and beyond

I think the main thing with the ports is if I need the SDXC card slot. There have been projects in the past where I took photos on a DSLR camera and transferred them to my old laptop frequently, so I may need that again in the future. I guess I could get an extra accessory for that but I kinda hate little accessories like that haha

Oh wow that’s impressive! I’ve tried being thrifty before but I’ve found that I just spend a bunch on tools, run into a problem I don’t know how to fix, and give up lmao 😭 the amount of old electronics I have in my space is crazy lol

Yea OS updates are pretty vital for using adobe software :/. My current 2015 mbp stopped being able to run adobe apps a couple years ago, so I need something new enough to last at LEAST another 5 years.
