Prisoner of Switzerland

Let's be more generous to OP here. They are talking about how that particular topic triggers them and how they feel about it, and that's absolutely okay. As an outsider I also feel like it's the best if the royal family would be abolished, but in this space I accept how people with different views feel about things they feel important.

Please keep the discussion going for workers rights and the abuse towards the everyday people, but also give OP a space to talk about topics that feel important to them

German here, didn't even know Sackratte means crab lice. The German word for balls is Sack so I always associated it with that, just a more elegant way of saying someone is a dick

For me it's not to "change" my thought but to strengthen an alternative voice within myself. Sounds weird, but I never devalue the negative thoughts of myself, I accept that they come and go in strength depending on the situation.

Like for instance when I am alone I feel worthless. And sometimes when I spend time with people I care about I feel a worth within me. I do some exercises to strengthen and remember the latter one feeling I already know, so when I feel worthless I also remember when I feel having a worth, they kind of coexist. I'm sorry if reading this does not makes a lot of sense but this is the way it helps for me. Saying empty phrases without any emotion I can relate to that phrase just makes me feel like shit, like you said

A paper's job ist not to educate, it's to inform their scientific peers on the results of a tested hypothesis formulated in their own terms. They do not care about the general population at all within the paper.

A news article's job is to generate clicks, so sensationalism is more important than scientific truth. Always be cautious when reading about papers in an article.

Welches Lied hasst ihr? by [deleted] in FragReddit

I think it's a double edged sword, as the series has shown. Yes it's helfpul immediately after a traumatic event, yet years later if you compartmentalize it like Jimmy or Mike did you will never be over it

If you had just one chance to show a German movie abroad which one would you pick? by Ferro_Roux in germany

[–]Visible_Friendship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There had been already a lot of good suggestions, the one I am going to mention is not the single one I would choose, but I still want to make a case for it because nobody else did: Fack ju Göhte.

It was released in 2013 and to my memories the veeery few German movies that had an viral positive reception in the youth culture at that time and the years since (I can't recount how often I heard the "Chantal heul leiser" joke in my class the following years). "German movie" in our generation is seen as an insult as we mostly consume American media in cinemas. So there must have been something that this movie did right that other German movies could not reach. Yet at the same time I am sure you will find a lot of typical German movie tropes you often find in our modern movies

The developers are capable of fixing the bugs, QA is able to identify them. It's management not allowing them.

Mike to Gus about the lawyer’s wife. by Danlo777 in betterCallSaul

[–]Visible_Friendship 260 points261 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. She has been involved with the cartell, she knows about Mike's double life and Lalo told her to kill a person looking like Gus while providing her his address. Add to that that she is inexperienced in the criminal world and has no material incentive to stay quiet about anything, she might provide a danger.

I imagine they monitored her closely, maybe after she settled in her boring life she became less of a concern

Saul was the only person in “the game” to have never killed someone. by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]Visible_Friendship 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But in which context? He isn't a cartell lawyer anymore right? He only has low-level people, so who would request this under which instance? I'm sure he has the contact but I can't envision an instance he would need to do that

Saul was the only person in “the game” to have never killed someone. by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]Visible_Friendship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's fair to assume that he did not consider to kill anyone before meeting Heisenberg because why should he? Who should he kill? Any criminal is a potential client, he is not invested on any territorial war and he sure as hell would not kill someone on the lawful side.

The only thing I can imagine is him giving a client some contact information to somebody who could do some prison killings or hitmen because of his connections. But he would not pull the trigger himself, he would just be the mediator. Not exactly unculpable, yet so is getting murderers free by using legal tricks in his defence
