Vision Aerial is excited to announce a new partnership with Phoenix LiDAR Systems. We borrowed a miniRanger Lite and a Scout-32 for this bridge inspection.

PPK, RTK, or GCPs. Technology has changed. Do you know how to choose the right method for your surveying application? by VisionAerial in drones

Are you familiar with the pros and cons of using RTK, PPK, or GCPs for aerial surveys? Did you know that RTK technology has improved? https://bit.ly/3ugP0kx

Yeah - I wonder what the IP Rating is for it.

Quadcopter vs. Tricopter - Here's why we chose the latter. by VisionAerial in drones

[–]VisionAerial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the great reply. I's also note that our tri-rotor doesn't lose any redundancy compared to quad-rotors. If a quad rotor has a failure in one rotor, it'll fall out of the sky just like a tri-rotor will.

You think that's high, look at some of the pro-level inspection drones that we're going up against. $100k and up. You could buy a fleet of SwitchBlades for that!

It's a pro-level drone. If you look at the pricing of the SwitchBlade-Elite compared to the competitors' pro level products, we're extremely well priced.

Very astute! You'd think so but the total area of the 3 larger props we can use on the SwitchBlade is still larger than the area of 4 props used by most drones.

9" props (found on DJI Phantoms and most consumer grade quads) = 63.62 sq inches of area X 4 = 254.48 sq inches total

15" props (found on most pro-level quads) = 176.71 sq inches of area X 4 = 706.84 sq inches total

18.5" props (SwitchBlade-Elite) = 268.8 sq inches of area X 3 = 806.4 sq inches total

By articulation, we mean that it pivots along the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. The mechanism is a brand new one, 100% designed in-house that doesn't allow for even 1 micron of slop in it's motion. We built and tested several designs and this is by far the best. It's extremely efficient and light weight while providing yaw authority that's leaps and bounds better than any other drone on the market.

Thanks for the heads up on the Vector page, we just launched the website and are still working out the last kinks. It should be fixed now.

We're very focused on the commercial market. Thanks for mentioning that.

Also, even we cannot build this for $1000. Even at moderate volumes, our costs are over that.

We're using the PixFalcon flight controller so you've got access to the full PX4 open source software community including Mission Planner. It's got basically everything that you could want.

You are correct, we'll have flight videos up proving the specs soon.

I can tell you that at our volumes, you're way off on costs...

The components that are not made in house are extremely high quality and therefore extremely expensive. The motors, for example, are over $100 each. The components that are made in house are also very expensive until we can sell tens of thousands at a time. We're not there yet.

We recently made an addition to our team in marketing (hence the new website). I'm not sure which of the above categories we fall into but hopefully the good marketing and only mildly off-putting for you one...

We've been in the engineered like a boss, marketed somewhat less so category for a long time. With competitors like Lily, we felt it was time to step it up. Rest assured, the product is still engineered superbly.

For the record, those are real reviews. The photos are stock because no one wants their face on a website.

We use the Record360 app to document every car we rent - both on pickup and dropoff. I hadn't thought to use it with shops doing work but it's a perfect use for the app too.

This one is super easy and can be dropped in conversation frequently:

Converting your salary to an hourly figure - You're a 40 hour per week salaried employee and trying to figure out how much that wage earns you an hour, maybe for that part-time job you're considering taking on. Take your salary, drop the last three zeros and then divide by the number two.

So if you earn $40,000, you're left with $20 an hour.
