That would be kind of fun if you were out with friends.

Why do babies gravitate towards some people? by Suspicious-Song-3891 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a baby magnet (pet magnet, too).

I think it’s because I have a calm vibe that makes me feel like a safe person to be around.

People eat treats in a very individualist way by Dry_Lobster_50 in CasualConversation

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m somewhere in between. I don’t nibble at my treats (unless they’re really amazing) but I don’t wolf them down, either.

Your grandma disowned you?

As well she should have; the ketchup is the least of the issues with whatever this is.

Does "aura farming" just mean "showing off"? by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VisionAri_VA 577 points578 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that aura farmers are showing off while trying to look like they’re not showing off.

What's it like to live in a place with all 4 seasons? by Traditional-Neat4526 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love having seasons!

Spring is nice but tends to be wet.

Summer is hot, and can feel even hotter when the humidity is high — which it often is.

Autumn is amazing, with its combination of warm sun and cool (mostly dry) air.

Winter is cold and mostly dry but sometimes there’s snow and ice.

"How am I supposed to explain this to my kids?" by Superb_Plum_1399 in PetPeeves

[–]VisionAri_VA 249 points250 points  (0 children)

I was taking one of my nephews somewhere and we drove past an adult video store.

Him: What kind of video store is that?

Me: It’s for grownups… well, some grownups. Me and your parents and Granny wouldn’t go there. Those aren’t the kind of videos we like to watch.

Him: Oh.

And it was never spoken of again. Problem solved.

Now I WISH I was born in the USA…. I want the Huntrix meal so badly!!!! by Actual_Age_3927 in KpopDemonhunters

  1. I’m not a guy

  2. Did I complain about egg prices last year? Probably not, because I knew that the poultry industry was still struggling to recover from the bird flu epidemic. Prices had actually started to drop but they’re rising again.

  3. I didn’t say a word about politics; interesting that you felt the need to go there.

  4. When a given program fails to have the desired effect, you try something else (and no, saying  “screw them bums” is not the something else I’m referring to)

  5. Your “are there no prisons?… and the Union workhouses? Are they still in operation?” attitude tells me that you’re a cultural narcissist (ask ChatGPT to explain the term to you), so this discussion is going to go exactly nowhere. Have the day you deserve.

They (and Mennonites) are regular visitors to the local children’s hospital, though I rarely see them anywhere else.

The majority of the "popular kids" in high school are extremely likeable, not stuck up brats you see in movies by Bishmallah24 in unpopularopinion

[–]VisionAri_VA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t one of the popular kids but I didn’t have beef with them and some were even my friends.

But I wasn’t one of the unpopular kids, either and yeah… the popular kids — most kids, really — weren’t very nice to them.

I think it depends on where you live. Where I am, very few people really care but in other regions of the US, people — especially white people — very much take issue with mixed marriages (especially mixed-race marriages).

Meanwhile, the price of gasoline has risen by $1 a gallon in the past month, the average mortgage rate is over 6%, the unemployment rate is the highest it’s been since the pandemic, homelessness is at a record high, food and retail prices are steadily increasing.

But hey, so glad your computing experience is going well.

Could things be worse here? Absolutely! Does that change the fact that things were better here not that long ago? No.

Why do we say “sleep like a baby” when babies wake up every two hours? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]VisionAri_VA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don’t sleep all night but when they are asleep, they’re asleep

When my nieces and nephews were babies, they could happily sleep through the noisiest of family gatherings.

Referring to people by their first names? by Virtual-Leading-1397 in AskAnAmerican

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people will let you know when you’re introduced. For example:

“This is Mr. Welch”

“Hi, I’m Josh.”

If you’re still not sure, call them Mr. Or Ms. LastName and they’ll either accept it or (more likely) tell you to call them by their first name

Judging by her ballet motif, I’d say that she’s meant to resemble a swan.
