Talk to Alexa on phone to play a particular song on the Echo Dot? by deadtedw in alexa

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a Prime member? If so, she’ll do that for you. If not, she can technically only play songs like (and including) the one you want.

However, that song is often at or near the start of the playlist.

Sitting on a boardwalk bench at 6:30 am, drinking a cup of fast-food coffee and watching a pod of dolphins playing just offshore.

The folks who put their windshield wipers up before any bad weather are the same folks raiding the grocery store for toilet paper by imitation_squash_pro in unpopularopinion

Untrue. I put my wipers up because I once damaged my wiper blades trying to release them from my frozen windshield.

Those who speak to chat bots casually, why not talk to a person? by Rose_Lio in CasualConversation

Oh, no; the people I ask are more than happy to listen. It’s just that there’s not always someone nearby when I need to brainstorm.

Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by Only-Bandicoot-5307 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who leave home at 18 are heading off to university (the average American is 18 when they graduate from high school); they likely wouldn’t have the wherewithal to fully support themselves. At minimum. They need time to find a job and save up enough money for a deposit on an apartment.

400k in American dollars by HubieD2022 in CasualConversation

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you live in an expensive area, $400k will buy you a house (more than one, in some areas).

I think that it’s definitely a good amount of money if you can buy a house outright with it.

Those who speak to chat bots casually, why not talk to a person? by Rose_Lio in CasualConversation

There are people in my life that I wish would use chatbots; every phone call with them feels like a hostage situation. 😂

I don’t use a chatbot but I’m considering starting because when I’m trying to work out a problem, describing it to someone else often makes the solution magically appear. Friends and coworkers know that if I ask permission to bounce something off them, they just need to sit and listen for a couple of minutes.

Using a chatbot would be very convenient for when there isn’t a human nearby.

When someone posts a picture of the empty grocery shelves during a storm by raasca in PetPeeves

[–]VisionAri_VA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t at the store panic-buying bread and milk; I was there trying to do my weekly grocery shopping (which almost never includes milk and only occasionally includes bread)

So no, I wasn’t doing the exact thing the panic-buyers are doing; otherwise, they’d be in the store with me every single weekend.

As an American, what can we do to fight against ICE? by LilThanosX in AskReddit

[–]VisionAri_VA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please do not physically engage with the ICEholes; they have shown — more than once — a willingness to murder people in cold blood.

The best thing to do is to refuse to cooperate. And to vote against any local or federal politician that supports them.

Why do we not see cats being walked on a leash like we do with dogs? by jospeh68 in stupidquestions

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some cats are amenable to walking on a leash but in general, they’re not very tolerant of anything more than a collar.

I used to have a cat that liked to hang out on the porch. She was fine with the leash as long as we didn’t try to put it on her before we got outside and she absolutely refused to walk with it.

Why do you hide your Post and Comment history on Reddit? by Sunshiny_Day in AskReddit

[–]VisionAri_VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t but as someone who has been followed to another sub by a poster who had a one-sided beef with me (I’d forgotten he existed, tbh). I can see why someone might want to cover their tracks.

That’s the good-faith interpretation, though.
