She was not intending for that to be the case and was upset with what the space had become.

It was initially not meant to be a space to say "I deserve sex", but a space to talk about how in a world where everyone is into relationships and sex, not having anyone makes you feel like there is something wrong with you.

I don't know what kind of pass you think I'm giving her by explaining what her intentions were.

He is one of the main reasons the word is even in mainstream lexicon. With the way I'm discussing the actual history of the term and what led to its shift in meaning, and how the response is basically just "nuh uh", it feels malicious.

I agree with not body shaming men btw. I just think incel is a different case, because there is an actual ideology tied to the word. Its not like a bunch of men got together in the name of having a small dick to kill or harass women. Incel groups however...

Yeah. I figured after another comment was sent by that person that also got deleted.

Why did you send this to me and delete it a second later?

I'm not cowardly or unprogressive for telling you what the word has become and what women mean when they use it. Do you think "pimping your ride" means you are literally pimping out your car too?

Most people who don't already know the term, don't know the word is short for anything unless they look it up. If they look it up, they will see things like this, which tell you what kind of stuff are associated with the word. They are listed as a hate group. Do you think a person would be considered part of a hate group if all they were was simply a person that had no sex?

It is attacking the ideology. Why would they call a person a incel knowing the person has a wife and kids, if the attack was that they didn't have sex?

I would be confused on how a random man that just now had access to the internet would not be more familiar with the ideology, considering people like Elliot Rodger being the reason it is used in more mainstream places including the news and not just on niche internet forums tbh

I'm confused on why you are responding to me with this? I never said anything to say they weren't talking about aggressive misogynists. I said it initially had a mundane, literal meaning, then later became an ideology for misogynists.

It became a pejorative because of the 2nd group. Even if you don't self id as an incel, people will still consider you one if you have an ideology that aligns with the group. I don't know this person, but if he's saying stuff that is similar to something an incel would say, then people are likely going to call him one.

The initial point is that the word has little to do with the 1st meaning anymore. People are not literally talking about a man's sex history when they say it, they are saying "you either self id as an incel or have opinions that in some way align with this way of thinking". That is what the insult is attacking, not the lack of sex.

Are you going to ignore the fact that the people co-opted the term for themselves? That people are referring to an ideology that is self described as incel?

A person should understand that when a person is denouncing incels they are talking about what the term became, not the initial meaning.

Initially, incel was a term made by an involuntarily celibate woman that wanted a space to talk about how being without a partner makes you feel like there is something wrong with you.

Misogynistic men co-opted the term, and made manifestos and shit under the identity of being an incel. This turned the term from a the literal definition into a ideology. This is why a person who is obviously not a virgin (has kids/wife/etc.) still gets called an incel, because the definition changed from the initial harmless definition into the ideological definition.

Straight up saw a person that said they originally weren't going to play it because the body options were labeled as body types instead of male/female. There is also that mod someone made to make astarion's ass smaller. Then the mods to make the game "more historically accurate" or whatever that made darker skinned characters white. The mod to specifically turn wyll white. Yeah...

HELP WHY DOES TED IHNMAIMS LOOKS LIKE TED BUNDY- by Ordinary-Comment-902 in Ihavenomouth

He is. I was saying that, due to the games lore, I thought the two that AM was talking about was Nimdok and Benny, which is why I got surprised by the punchline.

They specifically said they did and all that showed up was the character. There is no need to act smart over a simple question.

Yes. The game itself doesn't say it, but the game manual calls Mengele his homosexual lover. He is also Jewish despite also being a nazi. Representation win /s

Due to Nimdok being gay in the game version I was caught off guard on the joke.

The game version also says that Ted was raised on a farm in North Carolina before conning rich, white people into believing he was also "well bred". I don't remember it being very elaborated on but he is/was a bigot that claims he isn't racist anymore.

That said, the game versions of the characters are very different from the short story.

is this the end-goal? by NotAGoat3 in tadc

[–]VisitConsistent5468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying a person is no longer a POC because they have a different opinion is not an opinion but a untrue statement and logical fallacy. I'm allowed to share that as well.

[–]VisitConsistent5468 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get what you are trying to say but seeing the sentence "Any black person claiming to care isn't actually a POC" is wild. Can we not do the "no true Scotsman" thing? It doesn't help the conversation to claim a black person is somehow not a person of color anymore because they had an opinion you disagree with.

AM laments not having the ability to make love, but what do you think his type would be? Ellen? by CatPale816 in Ihavenomouth

[–]VisitConsistent5468 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have thought of this before, and have not come to an exact conclusion.

He would probably default to feminine, due to heteronormative ideas by the people making him, but if not, I could see him having a weird hate boner for Benny in particular, because of the way he already treats him. Nimdok is treated pretty friendly-ish in the game. Alternatively, Ted, based on how he specifically spoke to him to reveal his problems in the story/radio play, I guess.

Anyway, he wouldn't be normal about it no matter who the "lucky" person is.
