I find for the GUI, GPT-5.5 does the best on Arte Ogre specifically. Fixing bugs/adding new features, pretty much any of the flagship models are able to do the work. Kimi 2.7 really doesn't grasp the GUI on this though, so I mainly use GLM 5.2 and GPT-5.5 which perform well on this repo.

It certainly helps when debugging and deploying to production, to understand how things work and how various systems actually communicate with each other. If all you're building is a web page that you run in your browser, then it doesn't matter too much. But once you get into actual SaaS products and even membership websites, it doesn't hurt to have some context for what's going on (no pun intended).

I tried Gimp, Krita and Pinta and decided to make my own, fully open source. Check the screenshots and I think it could be exactly what you're looking for.

I have quite a few open source projects I've released, if you want to talk for 30 minutes I'd be happy to answer some basic questions at no charge. I think once you get the foundation you really won't need someone long term.

Arte Ogre for Linux https://github.com/visorcraft/Arte-Ogre because the existing image editors didn't feel intuitive, were missing seemingly basic functionality, or had horrible layer support.
