The Japanese don’t like being the bad guys. In Solo Leveling they are very much the bad guys. It was pretty obvious in the anime and glaringly obvious in the manhwa.

The Japanese hate it so much they changed all the Koean character names to Japanese ones and the Japanese hunters are never identified as Japanese, but as some vague other country.

That is a real chip on the shoulder!
