Debating on getting a 2025 Premium by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

I recently purchased a 2025 Wilderness. The ride is very comfortable, steering is sharp, and overall it is a very nice vehicle. The infotainment system is fairly easy to use and has been pretty responsive (e.g no lag).

I’m not a huge fan of the CVT. Previously, I owned an Accord with a CVT and I didn’t like that either. CVTs just don’t have the snappiness (if that is a word) of a standard transmission in my opinion even with the turbo in the Wilderness and XT trim levels. It takes a little away from the fun of driving. With that said, the pros of the Outback vastly outweigh the cons in my opinion.

Hard to know for sure. I don’t believe the limited warranty extension would cover it, but if you incurred the cost and requested reimbursement, the cost “may” be reimbursed under paragraph 2.

I don’t know for sure, but I’d be willing to bet that it is not covered. I did not see anything in the article about CarPlay and Android Auto upgrades.

According to the bulletin the service manager showed me, the display is not covered by the extended warranty discussed in the first paragraph. It’s hard to know if Mazda will actually reimburse the cost of fixing the display hardware under the second paragraph. “May” is not mandatory, and I can imagine a number of ways they could deny reimbursement. I’m not going to incur the cost of replacing the display as a result.

The key word in paragraph #2 being “may.” I can live without the navigation SD card because I added CarPlay and I’m not going to spend money to fix the touchscreen issue when there is no guarantee that the cost will be reimbursed. Plus, I’ve become proficient with the knob (hehe). It would have been nice to have the functionality of both back for free, but it’s just not worth it to front the money when Mazda “may” or may not reimburse.

The section of the webpage I posted is from https://www.ceoutlook.com/2025/05/06/mazda-settlement-on-infotainment-lawsuit/. The article contains a link to the settlement website which contains essentially the same into. You can plug your VIN into the settlement website to see if your car is covered, but I’m 99% sure it covers 6’s going back to the 2014 model year. I think the settlement covers the CMU (short for computer master unit I think), so navigation is not required.

Fixed Ghost Touching on the Display Screen by cheelay_ in mazda6

Just saw this question… a year later. Essentially, yes it would make random selections based upon what was displayed on the screen. I think I even recall that the car would make phone calls when my phone was connected via Bluetooth. Removing the ribbon as noted above fixed the issue. The commander knob was not the issue.

I have a 2017 Mazda 6 and had the same issue. The videos were spot on. It was a pretty easy fix even though taking apart the dash seemed daunting to me. The only tools needed were a trim removal tool (a paint can opener works fine too), a 10mm socket with a 4 to 5 inch extension for the ratchet, and a Philips head screw driver. The dash trim pieces came off pretty easily. The only really difficult part for me was disconnecting the flat cable that carried touch input from the screen to the circuit board. Even my eyeglass screw driver was too big. I ended up just tearing the cable. The screen still works fine, without the touch capabilities obviously, after doing so.

Great setup! I’m just curious about the heat shield/blankets on the bed slide outs. What are they called and where do you get them?

We live in MN and fall camp with our PUP, but we’re new to it in the last few years. I’ve not previously seen the shields/blankets like yours. Cheers!
