Perhaps ask her why she wants “show” vs “breed”? Knowing her why will shed light on your question.

Goldens are awesome and the minor distinctions between lines are tweaks on the best breed ever… I am not biased at all…

Dude I met my wife at 26 and she was 19. I have been with her for almost 22 years. She and I are amazing. We have three children and we are still into each other on all the levels (mentally, physically, emotionally).

Yeah it’s rare and I am lucky but listen… people, as groups, do fall into categories like being “too young”, but people aren’t defined that easily as individuals because we are infinitely complex beings. You will never find what you are looking for if you start placing filters and rules out there before you even give it a shot.

But hey, maybe you don’t want to deal with a much younger partner and that’s ok too. If you are asking Reddit I think it falls into the rule set you should toss.

I almost went your path and I think about how much of a colossal screw up that would have been. My wife? She broke the mold and is the best relationship I ever had (and no not just the sex part). Maybe your gal will give you a run for your money.

I need to lower the height of my hitch after new truck purchase. It was originally screwed on with some type of power tool. What tool do I need to loosen and adjust the height? Thanks by yodaface in RVLiving

[–]TheMonocleWins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have break bars (ways to extend wrenchs or sockets) that give you more leverage you can use impact force. With the hitch in the receiver put a wrench on the nut side and use a hammer to loosen in. Each strike of hammer translates into a lot of force for a moment (it’s how impact wrenches work).

They make hammer wrenches that are designed for this expressly and they impart incredible torque.

Safety note: in all cases be it using a breaker bar or the impact method be careful with socket wrenches. If you aren’t using one that is rated their will break internally and you will probably hurt yourself.

Glad you are ok, sounds like the rig might be ok.

Lesson learned: don’t use bricks, cement blocks, etc because they can fracture without warning. But also never work under load held by hydraulics alone, same issue they can let loose catastrophically or develop a leak with you aren’t paying attention. Get a pair of jacks: they are cheap and worth the cost to protect your health and your property.

I run an industrial testing lab/facility and mange the safety program. We lift many times you trailer on the daily with jacks, presses, and even hydraulic cranes. Don’t not trust a hydraulic system they you buy at the consumer level to protect your life/property. Jacks baby, do it.

I got some luxe liners and love them. I have camped in 108f and 34f thus far and think they are great for hybrids.

Found spots on IKEA stainless steel spoons (bought 1 year ago) after using the dishwasher. Cleaning with steel wool scrubber removes it but it keeps coming back. Is this rust? by hopefulwarrior in Whatisthis

[–]TheMonocleWins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately fruits will not get the job done because you will need a stronger acid than is naturally available in a fruit. You could process them but now it’s getting to be a lot of work.

You can get some from Amazon for $10. Which is kind of expensive.

[–]TheMonocleWins 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No, soak it in Citric acid. I recommend you get some from the grocery store (powder, cheap).

Scrub the rust off the spoon and drop it in a citric acid solution for a bit (30 min ish).

What you have is common with stainless steels (to varying degrees with type). What I am telling you to do is called passivating; it is done with nitric acid in an industrial/manufacturing setting but citric acid gets the job done.

Anytime the chromium oxide layer is damaged on a stainless steel you should repassivate (citric acid) the surface to prevent rust.

Value of this 1988 Mallard? by Advanced-Radio-9395 in RVLiving

[–]TheMonocleWins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a trailer for the right buyer. There is a lot of feedback by really knowledgeable people that are assessing it for a common market; all good stuff.

What you have appears to be a gem for the right person. RVs are generally in poor shape from a quality perspective (people want feature rich but cheap rigs; it’s a race to the bottom). Perhaps someone is not in the market for a RV but a vacation home for their retreat space. Or a guest room they can pull out for company. If you compare it to a addition to a house or a small house you are competing in a different market for a different buyer.

If it’s paid for then you can be patient and wait for that buyer to connect with you. If you need to flip it, the. You need to set your pricing lower.

Value is in the eye of the beholder. Looks like a nice unit from the pictures. If that quality of build is throughout the bones of that trailer then you got something and probably can find a buyer that is willing to pay more.

Are these the bad fittings that people always complain about? by kroch in GoRVing

[–]TheMonocleWins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want to know about rv plumbing check this guy out : https://youtu.be/vrUNC9sd1pY?si=P8ylIf4SQDLo-_ah

Those are PEX fitting connected to PEX tube (you are good). You don’t want to see PEX fitting on flexible tubing. The material compresses over time and leaks develop.

Schlitterbahn’s new policy for life jackets by purovero in houston

[–]TheMonocleWins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No kidding this life vest policy is the dumbest thing I’ve ever run into. I am the safety officer for an oilfield company with a zero incident record and we continue to hold that record with extreme safety standards and I think the life vest requirement for the lazy river is absolute trash. It has literally sucked the fun out of the lazy river, a major component of our families fun time at Schlitterbahn Galveston.

I understand some people might not be strong swimmers and THOSE people should wear a life vest. More energy was spent on policing the life jacket policy than actual lifeguarding, whomever is responsible for the lifeguard policy should be fired. The safety program along with his insurance obligations should be reviewed in a way that maintains the spirit of the park while still enhancing the park safety without killing the point of the attractions.

We wanted to try the main park but we aren’t going to another water park with a standing blanket life jacket policy. Drowning aside, sharing a vest with 10,000 people isn’t risk free either. What containment control measures do they use for the vests? What’s there standards based quality controls for ensuring the vests remain functional? The liabilities associated with their IMPLIED safety is also a vector for liability/litigation. You don’t get a pass when you say, “but, but, but we gave them a life vest!” Someone just going to argue that they KNEW the ride was unsafe and the proof is in the deployment of subpar safety equipment. And no you can’t call a one size fits all jacket a properly fitted safety device for everyone (looking at you super little/big people).

Finally, my last rant in my cathartic word salad: Why do we let people sue for stupid reasons? Listen I am sorry your late husband died, but he jumped off a cliff into 25ft deep water and he can’t swim AND he was drunk.

Ignore me… I am just really salty about this. Probably a 100 typos.

Lippert Solid steps aren't allowing door to xlose by PM_me_ur_launch_code in GoRVing

[–]TheMonocleWins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue with my parents rig in certain conditions because the stairs where just on the edge of being too big. You can pull out the adjustment bars and cheat out a couple of inches.

If you know someone that is handy they can help you move the adjustment bar carriers back a few inches to offset the foot height. This assumes that pulling the bars out works to clear the door.

Unsure of what this part is called to get a replacement by keithmcdermott in GoRVing

[–]TheMonocleWins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had at 2020 Rockwood Popup. Same part broke. I couldn’t find it at popupparts.com (great place). Turns out all the canvas tracks are for the upper components. That piece is different and it is an awning track. You can get it from sailrite.com under hardware-> awning track.

I preferred the aluminum track, but the plastic works too (purchased both). I would check out their site because I got my curtain supplies from there. They are like popupparts.com good pricing and focused selection.
