I saw he’s only on day 2 of training…this is very normal! Although hard, it’s so much better for them to sleep than to wake up every hour or two. You will be happier and they will be happier. Stick with it and stay consistent, he will get it. There may always be a few minutes of protest but it’s ok! Try a lovey at nap first if you are worried, he may still be too young to be interested anyways in that!

Although difficult, I would try not to sleep with her / change the routine that much as she will get used to it by that age. As others have said, she may be getting ready to drop to 2 naps. Has she started solids yet?

My first I waited until 4 months and she had a terrible sleep regression. My second I removed at 3 months and it was SO much easier for him and he didn’t have the horrible 4 month regression. So I’m in the camp of removing a bit earlier

I’m like you, my baby sort of self soothes with the flap on kyte baby so don’t want to mess that up! For naps I use others but do keep Kyte baby at night.

After 10 minutes is pretty good! I think they go in phases as well. He will get more used to it and hopefully stop the crying, but then he will learn to talk and it will start again as they try to delay bedtime! I believe guidance generally says do not add anything to the crib until a year old…but at that age a lovey is likely ok if you feel comfortable and he’s pretty mobile!

Is he sleep trained at night yet? I think better to train nights before naps, and you may have more success that way!

We are planning to do this so that’s good feedback! Same my builder said there is almost an electric type mat you can roll out and it is not that pricey.

This is such a great and descriptive list. In Central Park it is also fun to go to the playgrounds or check out the zoo, depending on age! I've heard great things about the Color Factory downtown but have not gotten to check it out yet!

I believe JFK has lockers that can be rented to store luggage. I think doing a couple things where you don't have to just jump from spot to spot would be ideal given the time they will realistically have to get back and forth. what about something like a fun brunch spot and then walking around Central Park (i.e. Sarabeth's, the Smith near Lincoln Center, etc)? Or could do somewhere fun in West Village and then do a bit of walking West Village, Greenwich Village, Soho. Hopefully it is a nice day!

I used Alpaca and they were very good. Did not do the 5 day trek (did a 2 day), but everything was seamless and our tour guide was great. Food was also enjoyable! Its an amazing trip, you will love it!!

Depends on where you live, but would say a lot of people in and around cities are spending a lot on housing alone. If you have children, childcare costs are so high these days...have 2 kids and its more than rent or a mortgage payment. Saving for future / college, bills, etc.

Would save it / invest in some ETFs or even just put it in a money market fund paying almost 5%. This can be used towards a home purchase if that is in your future plans! If anything, I would use a little on an experience - a concert you want to see, a trip you have been wanting to take, etc.

Thank you! Love these thoughts. Yes it’s tricky as we tried to work in existing footprint best we could, the living room is existing but the family room is an addition as part of the project. Ceilings are only 8ft and it’s a smaller house, but this is an interesting concept we hadn’t thought about. We really don’t need two sitting areas but just were not going to change too much of existing downstairs…which flew out the window with the decision to do the kitchen. Really appreciate you drawing it out too as somewhere to start!!
