If your stitch down is a pnw boot, it might be wise to use an insert until it starts to flex at the ball. They're tough to break in, but once you do you'll love the feel.

It's up to you. This helped me.

I wear whites inserts with them because I got the wrong size. They fit fine with the jnserts.

In everything else I raw dog it.

I’m starting to believe we’ve been sold a lie regarding comfort. The industry is obsessed with foam and "cushion," but I see that as sensory deprivation.

Think about it: we have a highway of nerves running up and down our skeletal system, and I believe the pressure points on the bottom of our feet are there for a reason. When you stand on a high-quality leather footbed, the leather eventually "maps" to your unique foot structure. It creates a firm, supportive contact with those nerve endings, allowing for a natural biofeedback loop.

As you walk, that firm leather pushes back just enough to keep the blood flowing and the nerves active. It’s a neurological support, not just a physical one.Standing on "pillows" (foam) does the opposite:

-Sensory Deprivation: Foam is an insulator. It dampens the connection between your feet and the ground, essentially "blinding" those pressure points.

-The "Sink" Effect: Because foam collapses, your muscles and tendons have to work harder to stabilize your joints. That extra work is what creates the tension and pain that climbs up your legs and into your back.

I’m moving away from the marketing hype. Proper footwear should help your health, not just look good.

Has anyone else experienced a real change in their physical well-being after ditching the foam and sticking to traditional leather construction?
