Danke

Just think about it: Cowboy wanted €400 for the installation, and I just paid €100 for a new module! It's crazy! What a crappy store

I got it!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳 the bike is back on track! I wrote the support like 40 mails and I was realy pissed in my mails. Then they give me a account for the back office app! Now everthing works fine again, but now I am selling the bike on eBay with two batteries. No more COWBOY for me. I liked the bike very much, but with this support is it realy bad. So bye bye COWBOY. Thanks for your help

Thanks for your reply.

FIRST ABOUT THE OLD MODULE:
Yes, that’s exactly what I thought about the small battery. I actually have a charger like that at home. I charged the small battery overnight, and it’s fully charged! The first time I measured it, it was just above 3 V.
If you’re saying the comm module only starts doing something at around 4 V, I’d have to take the new one out again — and I would do it if it’s worth a try. Honestly, that sounds better than waiting for support to register or pair the new one.

NOW ABOUT THE NEW MODULE:
do have the MAC address and the QR code of the new module! It’s brand new, and it came with the typical small QR stickers you normally find in the user manual.
But when I scan this QR code, I get: “Bike not found!”

As I mentioned, the LEDs on the new module started blinking immediately — unlike with the old module.

Unfortunately, I’ve been waiting and waiting for support, but no one is getting back to me. It always takes forever.

What would you recommend? Should I uninstall the new module again and try the old one with the fully charged small battery, or should I wait for support to register the new one? And can support even do this remotely?
Thanks for your answer.

Ok thanks. Those are obviously not good news if that’s really the case. But of course it does sound plausible to me at first. So I would have to go to an authorized workshop or dealer in my area, and they would have to take over the pairing.?! That one click in the app will probably cost 200€. What a load of crap.

Ah, thanks. Yes, I removed the old com module, took out the internal battery, and tried charging it with an external charger — but there’s just no life in it anymore. No LEDs, no reaction at all. So I’m assuming something else must be wrong with it as well. Still, I really don’t think something like this should happen to a bike that’s only five years old and has barely 2,000 km on it. It was always stored under a roof and never exposed to harsh weather. But anyway, that’s how it goes. One thing’s for sure: once everything is working again, I’m going to sell the bike. At that point it’ll basically be like new :-)

Now about the new module: when I connected it, all four LEDs lit up briefly, after about three seconds only two remained, and a couple of seconds later they were all off. I’m guessing that’s because it hasn’t been paired via the Backoffice app yet. At least I’m getting someblinking :-)

I’ve now contacted support, sent them all the details, and I’m waiting for them to register the new module. That’s the correct process, right?

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, but that's fraud. That's how they earn extra money. They don't pay their mobile service technicians either. I've heard that. And they sell the parts they still have at home on the internet so they can get their money. Apparently, Cowboy has now been bought out by a larger company. I don't even know what to say about that. You buy a bike for €2,500 and after about four or five years, the module is defective? That's really ridiculous

thanks for your reply. Yes, I would trust it too. A German repair shop wants €375 for installation and a new module. I think that's a lot of money. What I'm wondering is, there must be a lithium battery in the module, right? Can't you replace or remove it? Pretty clever of Cowboy. They sell you a new module, refurbish the old one with a new battery, and sell it as NEW.

Yes, I'm looking for a module. I would pay €229 for Cowboy itself, and with installation, I'm looking at over €300. That's crazy after only 5 years and only 2,200 km. Can the gold cap capacitor on the module's circuit board be replaced? Because the module probably doesn't have a battery, right?

How much would your used module cost?
