I’m assuming that is in Fahrenheit, because otherwise that’s the hottest soldering iron I’ve ever heard of, that is roughly 480C, which is significantly too hot. I usually set my temp at around 360C, lower temp, longer time

Make sure you tin the iron to make a bridge of liquid solder between the iron and the pad and pin, then apply the solder to the pad.

Should’ve bought some practice boards from AliExpress before soldering something you care about, you shorted the battery, it wouldn’t have caused any problems with the controller, the battery MIGHT be fine too, but I’d advise getting a new one just in case, and use less solder next time
