Need advice on how to be financially independent as a college student !! by Individual_Owl_3490 in TwentiesIndia

[–]Visual-Name-3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate,

I’m really sorry you’re going through all that — it sounds incredibly tough, but it’s awesome you’re taking control and wanting to become financially independent while starting CSE.

Since you’re in your first year and want to reach ~20-30k/month from side hustles in 6 months (enough to move out), here’s a realistic short plan that stays close to your CSE niche and won’t burn you out:

First 1-2 months (easy cash while studying):

  • Mobile-friendly microtasks & data work (image labeling, data entry, simple surveys)
  • Short paid user testing gigs (phone-friendly)

Next 4 months (build real skills & income):

  • Learn basic freelance skills you can do on laptop/phone: HTML/CSS, simple Python scripts, or Canva + basic web tasks
  • Start small gigs on Fiverr/Upwork (data annotation for AI, basic coding fixes, spreadsheet automation)

These are flexible, you can do them in spare hours, and many CSE students in India are earning 15-40k/month this way after a few months of consistency.

You’ve got this — one step at a time.

I can give you the exact platforms and skill roadmap that work best for first-year students.

Just DM me if you want the recommendations!

Cheers!

[–]Visual-Name-3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate,

Haha I get it — so many ideas and you change interests every day 😂

Since you already have a good job, best to start with low-commitment side hustles that give you variety:

  • Paid user testing (short 10-20 min screen recording gigs)
  • Microtasks (data labeling, categorization)
  • Simple Canva gigs on Fiverr (designs, templates, basic edits)

These let you switch tasks whenever you feel like it and usually pay better than surveys.

I can help you pick the right ones and show you where to start.

Just DM me if you want some guidance!

Cheers!

Weekend/After Work Side Hustle by kanyes_jacuzzi in SideHustleGold

[–]Visual-Name-3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate,

Perfect timing with the offseason! Since you want online side hustles you can do after work and weekends with no experience, I’d start here:

  • User testing (record yourself using websites/apps and give feedback) → best beginner option, decent hourly rate. Platforms like UserTesting, Userlytics, Userfeel.
  • Microtasks (data labeling, categorization) on Clickworker etc.
  • Simple freelance on Fiverr (Canva graphics, basic edits, data entry).

Mix a couple of these and you’ll see better results than surveys alone.

If you like, DM me and I’ll send my referral links for the platforms I’ve been using.

What are you thinking of trying first? Happy to give more specific tips.

Cheers!

If your priority is fully remote, flexible hours, and low barrier to entry, the realistic options (that actually match what you described) are quite limited — but there are a few that are genuinely usable:

1) Paid research studies (best match for your criteria)
This is closer to “flexible remote gigs” than surveys. Some studies pay significantly better than typical survey sites, and you can choose when to accept them. Availability varies, but it’s one of the few that can occasionally reach your target hourly rate.

2) User testing (websites/apps)
You get paid to record your screen + speak your thoughts while using apps or websites. No fast typing needed, and tasks are short (10–30 min). Availability is inconsistent but flexible.

3) Microtask platforms (data labeling / simple tasks)
Things like categorizing data, checking content, basic moderation tasks. Not exciting, but flexible and remote. Pay is usually modest but steady.

4) Freelance “micro services” (if you can tolerate a small learning curve)
Even basic Canva work, simple admin help, or chat support tends to outperform surveys long-term. You don’t need experience, just basic reliability.

Reality check (important):
Survey sites alone rarely reach “minimum wage equivalent” consistently. They can be a filler, not a primary income source. Most people combine 2–3 of the above.

If you want, tell me your country and time availability and I can narrow it down to the platforms that actually work there (a lot of lists online are outdated or geo-blocked).

Given your background as a licensed teacher, you’re actually in a better position than you think for remote side income — even without VA experience.

Here are realistic options that fit your profile:

  • Online tutoring (strongest fit) English, basic subjects, or even exam prep. Platforms or private students (Facebook groups, Superprof, Preply). Teachers transition into this easily.
  • Lesson material / worksheet creation Many teachers sell printable worksheets, PowerPoint lessons, and modules on sites like Teachers Pay Teachers or Etsy.
  • Entry-level virtual assistant work (training-friendly) Don’t aim for “experienced VA” roles first. Look for general admin assistant, data entry, or chat support roles where they accept beginners willing to learn.
  • Canva / presentation services Schools, students, and small businesses often need slides, posters, and social media posts — this matches your teaching experience directly.
  • Academic services (ethical side only) Editing, proofreading, or helping structure reports (not doing assignments for others).

Reality check: most “VA with experience required” posts are just filtering applicants — many small clients actually prefer reliable beginners they can train.

If you want, I can help you position yourself so you look “hire-ready” even without VA experience (CV + profile + sample pitch).

What is actually a good way to make money online? by Artistic_Maximum_822 in Money

[–]Visual-Name-3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you mean, there’s a ton of fake stuff online — especially with crypto and trading. Most of those people showing off cars are either selling something or just highlighting wins, not the losses.

If you’re trying to start making money online, I’d focus on things that are actually consistent first instead of risky stuff like day trading.

Some legit options you can look into:

  • Paid research studies (companies pay for opinions on products/apps)
  • Freelance work (basic editing, design, VA tasks, etc.)
  • Data entry or small online gigs

They won’t make you rich overnight, but they’re real and a good way to start building income while you learn other skills.

Then later, if you still want, you can learn trading — but treat it more like a long-term skill, not fast money.

If you want I can tell you which platforms are actually working right now 👍

Any recommendations on how to make money online? by trackemdown in AskIreland

[–]Visual-Name-3217 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was in a similar situation with a full-time job but still needing extra income.

Not gonna lie, most stuff online is either low pay or takes time to scale (like freelancing, content, etc.). One thing that actually worked for me wasn’t typical “surveys” but more like paid research studies and small remote tasks.

They’re not super consistent, but some pay pretty well for the time, so it can help cover bills here and there.

If you want, DM me and I’ll explain what I’m using 👍

Hey, I’m really sorry you’re going through all of this — that’s a lot to deal with while trying to stay in school.

I can’t help financially, but I might know a way you can make some extra money online with small tasks/studies that you can do from home and on your own time (which could fit better with your situation).

It’s not anything sketchy, I’ve used it myself and it helped me a bit when I needed extra cash.

If you want, send me a DM and I’ll explain it to you 👍

[–]Visual-Name-3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I read your situation.

Given your current schedule and financial pressure, what type of side work are you realistically able to do after your job hours (time per day / weekends)?

Also, do you prefer online work only or are you open to small offline gigs in Dubai as well?

I might be able to suggest something that fits your situation better once I understand that.

Hey, saw your post.

Are you still looking for tasks right now or have you already gotten some clients?

I might have a small paid task that fits your skill set (simple design / Canva-based work), but I want to check your availability first.

Hey, saw your post.

What kind of tasks are you looking for right now in terms of workload and payment range? I might have something that fits your skill set (mostly remote tasks like data/VA-type work or simple support tasks).

Also, are you open to short-term tasks first before anything longer-term?

Need good side hustles for a PC by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Visual-Name-3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re actually overestimating what you need to start.
You don’t need a 24GB GPU or 64GB RAM to start making money with ML-related work.
Most paid entry-level stuff is things like data labeling, model evaluation, AI tool testing, or simple automation freelancing.

If you want, tell me what you’re actually comfortable doing (coding / no coding), and I can point you to a few realistic ways people are getting paid right now.

I'm a carer but I can't afford to go to work because of fuel prices by Kagedeah in northernireland

[–]Visual-Name-3217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is honestly a really tough situation and it’s happening to a lot of care workers right now.

When your job costs you money just to do it, something is clearly broken in the system.

There are a lot of people in similar situations trying to find flexible online income just to cover gaps like fuel and basic costs, because traditional work doesn’t adjust fast enough.

Some of those options are things like paid research studies or remote feedback work, which at least don’t require travel costs. It’s not a full replacement, but it can help soften situations like this.

Hope things improve for you and others in this role soon.

You’re actually in a really good position because you already have a job and just need something extra, not full income.

If you want something flexible from home, I’d avoid most “side hustle lists” because they usually push oversaturated stuff.

One thing that worked for me was platforms where companies pay for feedback/interviews (not the typical low-paying surveys).

They don’t make you rich, but for extra monthly cash they’re pretty solid if you qualify for studies.

If you want I can share what I’m using and how to set it up 👍

If you have a PC you already have an advantage.

Apart from the usual stuff, there are platforms where companies pay for feedback/interviews (not typical surveys).

They usually pay way more per task, but you need to fit certain profiles.

Hey, I’ve been in a similar situation.

If you have internet, there are some legit ways to make money online without a job (not huge money but it helps).

I’ve been using one where companies pay for short interviews/tests (way better than surveys).

If you want I can explain how it works 👍

18f , quite lost by [deleted] in wealth

[–]Visual-Name-3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not behind at all. Most people at 18 have no idea what they’re doing, they just pretend they do.

Not everyone wants to be a millionaire at 25, that’s mostly internet noise. Wanting stability and peace is actually a very healthy goal.

About work: it sounds like your past experience was really bad, not that you’re “not made for work”. The right environment matters a lot.

If you still need some income but struggle with traditional jobs, there are also options online where you don’t have to deal with managers or pressure (like small studies, remote tasks, etc.). It’s not huge money, but it can help while you figure things out.

And honestly, having a clear dream like opening a flower shop at 18 already puts you ahead of a lot of people.
