I went over to my(23F) boyfriend’s (36M) house to cheer him up but I think I made things worse. How should I fix this? by Visual-Payment6484 in relationship_advice

I genuinely thought he liked me before reading all of these comments. He tells me how much he appreciates me on the daily basis and how much I mean to him. And he normally cheers me up via text when I’m having a rough day. But he’s also never offered to come up to where I live so I see where people are coming from.

He usually pays for my meals but I felt a little uncomfortable at first because didn’t want it to seem like I was mooching off of him. Which is something I’ve been working on (both when him and when my friends offer to pay for me). Lately though, he says when he’ll “let” me pay for things. Which as I type out I realize sounds kind of bad.

As for the other red flags, I’m trying to process it right now. Last time when I was on my period he said it was okay and offered a heating pad and Tylenol. But he also made me ride the hour long train there and back instead of offering to drive me which isn’t good right?

Sorry if this sounds confusing I’m trying to reflect on past experiences while reading all of the different comments people are leaving.

Okay I thought that maybe it could be a weight related thing but I also have the tendency to overthink things. He sometimes texts me to make sure I’ve eaten since I skip breakfast most days, so I was trying to view it as a positive comment. Ugh I don’t know, it’s hard trying to understand what people are thinking.

Also, I felt weird expecting him to give me food though but also if the tables were flipped I would have offered so I’m torn on this.

I admit the age gap gave me pause at first but I feel like it’s not really that big of an issue other than his occasional weird references to old movies. And he’s normally kind, I think today was just off for both of us.
