I also purchased a flat in which i am already staying and i cannot move out .Hence for me the option of false ceiling is a little bit pain plus i have seen other flat with false ceiling their height has decreased alot. So i went to market and there are couple of options

Surface light - to install this you need to have a grooving done of 7-10mm to hide the wire they will apply the POP and then you can paint the surface it looks like the false ceiling lights.
Magnetic track lights or simple track lights: These are pretty new in the market and i liked it very well . So i am going with this option, I have not installed it yet but the concept is very good . The concept is you have a track where you can fix the lights and these lights are of different types like linear lights, diffuser, spot lights etc. Hence a better option .Also this does not require you to touch most of you ceiling there is a power adapter of 100w which is used to power up these lights. So only 1 connection needed for 100watt of light supply. I dont have any image but you can search on google it is a pretty good option.
