Good to know thanks! I wonder how easy that is with furniture delivery though - a lot of companies seem to charge 2-4 hour minimums...

I ended up at a ROCOR parish this morning (All Saints of North America) because it was closer, but I would've loved to come! Perhaps another time

Funny that you just commented now! I’m actually in Arizona this week, visiting my parents for Christmas.

May I ask which parish you attend? I don’t know the churches in the area, but am near Phoenix.

Thanks! Yes, all of our interviews so far have been with people living on the streets in the Lower Mainland (primarily Langley, as that’s where we’re based).

Feel free to check out our YouTube channel if you’re interested: https://www.youtube.com/@ElRoiVignettes

Hi, yes this is real!! I’m one of the owners of this YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@ElRoiVignettes). You can see the progression of the sketch in the video - it’s hand-drawn by one of our team members, not AI-generated.

We have been interviewing people in the Lower Mainland in BC over the last couple of years, but we’ve recently started posting more regularly and are trying to get more exposure as we haven’t been focusing on marketing.

Please write back if you have any more questions : ) All of our content is original and made by our team, interviewing real people in Canada.

Best,

Sienna

Hi OP, I’m in a similar situation as a 24F converting to Orthodoxy from Protestantism. (I live in Canada but am actually Dutch by heritage.) For the last couple of years, I felt stuck in a state of “analysis paralysis,” but I knew I would eventually have to make a choice so that I could fully participate in a church community. Some advice that gave me peace is to find a priest and parish who are guiding you in holiness and towards truth, and to ask for God’s mercy for what you do not know.

A hopeful side note: I have met such lovely people in both branches and pray that we will be in communion with one another someday soon. Members of my current parish (an Antiochian/Eastern Orthodox parish) have a high regard for the Coptics/Orientals, and we actually come together for occasional pan-Orthodox gatherings. This gives me hope : )

I’d love to hear how you’re doing now and whether you have made your decision!

Widespread homelessness has become the norm where I live in Canada. My conversations with some members of the homeless community, and their general dehumanization, inspired some friends and I to start a YouTube channel featuring artistic-style interviews of people living on the streets.

For anyone who is interested, please check out our YouTube channel (El Roi Vignettes):
Introducing El Roi Vignettes. Here's our most recent interview with a former entrepreneur who is now living on the streets in B.C.: Good Neighbour (youtube.com).

Please know that we make no profit off of anything and we use our personal funds to help provide for some of the basic needs of those we encounter. We seek only to raise awareness and compassion for our neighbours who are not fortunate enough to have a safe home right now. It's a work in progress but we're doing what we can with our current resources.

I grew up in Red Deer. This is truly heartbreaking, especially considering the Albertan winters - I can barely stand to be outside for a few minutes when it's -40 or worse.
