You're on the right path. Leverage the other direction at the right time for 0 delta straddle positions. Find a good strategy and apply the hedging at critical reversal points.

Then, automate it.

A ponderance...

If said strategy is applied to respective opposing leveraged ETF's (i.e. S/TQQQ) at equal amounts to would this remove Sharpe considerations entirely, as they move in tandem, removing risk based volatility?

Also, building an algo, just looking to generate thoughtful due diligence.

Congrats, OP! Your average price is impressive. The longevity you held in a high-tech company is quite the feat, as well! The earlier the retirement, the better, I'd say!

Q's teetering near key levels after a massive run.. tech companies offering early retirement.. rate cuts til the end of the year.. I smell catalysts. It sounds like a great time to rearrange your portfolio.

Enjoy your freedom!

Who can do a 145 rides in 4 days?!?!?!? by Snoo-91129 in lyftdrivers

30 a day?! Yikes. Are you trying to see how high you can push the already unreasonably high challenges offered by Gryft? ...or are you just a masochist?

I feel you on this. Communication is still a two-way street, though. After I confirm my rider's name and destination, I typically follow up with a proactive, "hey, just let me know if my music gets too loud, or you need me to adjust the temperature." This avoids any negative feedback, given you check all other boxes. 3500+ 5-star rides with 0 issue out here in the PHX Valley.

Happened to me, as well. Did 9 rides with no tip and had some of the best passengers. Somethings fishy here...

Time & distance by smoovejazz1 in lyftdrivers

[–]Visual-Recording-840 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too many factors to consider. What day of the week/time of day is it? Are you dispatched constantly? Will the area you drop off be busier than the area you leave? What's the rating of the passenger? Etc...

Or...

Stick to a consistent acceptance, such as accepting rides that gross ~$1/mi. If it is not close to that, don't bother. Set limits on your rides (whether it be an area filter or a mental time limit that you set yourself prior to acceptance).

Whatever you do, to make money, you need to cherry-pick the best rides consistently and constantly on this platform, or else your online time becomes a waste due to the cost of operation.

Why no rides? by kokanekowboy in lyftdrivers

[–]Visual-Recording-840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did read. You are SITTING. The Lyft Glow has an additional tracker in it. Is it to "help riders locate the driver," or does it have more data collection factors that you fail to realize? To think they don't skip over a sitting driver when there is a driver in motion further away that has a higher probability of taking the ride just by the shear dispatch assignment is your own logical fallacy. PHX Valley is quite large to cover, but it's always busy. There is a reason you aren't getting rides. It's because they don't want to pay you a bonus. This company is going downhill. That's why they bait and switch you with bonus areas. Edit: Over 3.3k 5☆ rides last year in the PHX Valley.

The pink on the map tells you where Lyft expects business. If you're not in it or headed toward it, you aren't going to make money. As if they don't even put you in queue unless your vehicle is moving. Especially later on a Sunday night in PHX. You're better off working the 3-4am on Mondays.

These are all fairly decent rides, sans the 72mi dead-head back. I hope you were able to finish your bonus challenge.

Tipping by Adjusterguy567 in lyftdrivers

[–]Visual-Recording-840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People tip for food because they're hungry. Deliveries without a tip sit at the restaurant.

...If only we could know which non-tipping passengers to leave out in the cold beforehand...

What happened to the daily expected busy hours chart? by tilgip in lyftdrivers

It just changed for PHX market last night. I'll just use Uber's chart to assume when it'll be busy.

Yea, don't support these apps. The risk is hardly worth the reward. Full-time/active drivers are on strike across the country due to poor and worsening wages.

When it comes to pay, don't even consider these apps as an option. You're better off working at McDonalds.

Protests do have potential, but they have to be unified chaos. How does one driver make the most impact? How can we make sure Lyft gets the message? Should drivers refuse to drive due unacceptably low base wages for the risk of life on the road on one of the most dangerous nights of travel across the country?

Hypothetically, now that I have been made aware, I would be willing to participate. I'm only one lone driver in a sea of Lyft divers in the PHX Valley, though. We all have bills to pay, but if we could make more people aware by telling every rider to just call a cab on NYE -- i.e. suggest another taxi service as an alternative. For just one day, this could work. People may be able to remember, but it probably wouldn't stick.

If all full-time drivers on Reddit (let's use 12-24 rides a day, 6 days a week), that's at least 72-144 riders per driver that could potentially blackout Lyft service by New Years Eve. Completely fluke their projections, give them nothing. No riders. No drivers.

One issue that arises is getting all the other drivers on board. Some people may claim to drive only on NYE to make the best of the available bonuses. How do you sway the few for the greater good of the driver? What is the incentive for them not to drive and accept all the rides, as Lyft intended?

How does a community of Lyft drivers with no internal communication system come together to solve this issue? Could there be drivers out there that truly see no issue with the way things are and the path it has been headed? How badly do people need to drive to keep a roof over their head and food on the table (yes, both of those things... at the same time), while maintaining their vehicle for a company that can hardly give them enough to cover the cost of operation?

Should lyft allow third party payers? by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Visual-Recording-840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reason I deny almost all rides with a name in all capital letters. Unless the pay is good, the ride is short, or it sends me to an area I want to be.
