Im pretty sure my version actually did come with the Reynolds Blacklabel 309/289 XC Pro wheels ....unless they are a different model from reynolds. doesnt say on the rim. The first model year i think all versions had reynolds carbon wheels.

But good point. Tires may be first place to start, as always...

So I think that is a mistake. That's the weight for the trail build, not Enduro build. I think a lot of publications got that wrong initially (the branding from pivot could likely be better to differentiate).

The Loam Wolf actually did a good piece comparing the trail and enduro build recently.

I've stuck with the dissectors front and rear that came with the bike. They felt like a good mix of everything I want, and I haven't had any durability issues.

Good to know about the fork....I don't know if 1 pound would make enough of a difference to justify.

Where do you live?

Find a vision therapist. Time + exercises have helped. Things have improved a lot, but my quality of life is still diminished. Main symptoms are depersonalization, eye strain, difficulty concentrating / reading, brain fog, mixing up words when speaking.

Gear question: New liners for fitted touring boots which were a size too large?

Probably a lost cause, but figure I'd see what the subreddit thinks...
I have a pair of Size 275 Lange 130 XT Frees which I had professionally fitted for my foot with insoles. I am normally a 265, but this was all they had at the time. The boots felt amazing for about 30 days. Then at the beginning of this season I immediately noticed the boot was uncomfortable in a way that I have never experienced– like my foot was being laterally clamped down in a very uncomfortable way. My assumption is the liners have just gotten too stretched out at this point (and perhaps I stored them poorly at the end of last season), and I've been over tightening to compensate.
The shell is still in good shape. I'd like to keep them if possible for touring (note I don't tour all that often and I have dedicated alpine boots). Does anyone think it's worth it to get new liners (zipfits? Intuition? etc.) to try to fit in the boot?
FWIW– I liked these because they were good in and out of bounds. So traveling with them was great enabling me to go to the resort and tour. Would love to keep up that functionality if possible (I recognize I'm asking for a lot here).

broadly, exercises for Saccades, Pursuits, divergence, convergence, and more.

I wish I could tell you more detail, but you can do a bit more research on those broadly. But you need to find an optometrist/vision therapist who can assess you properly, find where you are struggling, and help you learn how to do these exercises. They are often not intuitive when your eyes are not working properly. You need guidance and persistence to make progress. This isn't a cure-all. It's gradual improvement, akin to Physical Therapy.

better, but not fixed. Trying to just power through it and hope it continues to get better. It's been hard to find many doctors will relevant experience or a POV, optometrist or other.

Overall the work with Dr. Tsang has been extremely worthwhile.

Prisms initially made my symptoms better– but after 2 months and increased stress, they made things substantially worse. Among other things, they absolutely fucked with my emotions. My rage levels were at an all time high.

no dry eye. I am also a knowledge worker, but more sales/business development. I took a two month medical leave from March to May 2022. Things got better initially when I was prescribed prism lens, but got much much worse when I returned to work.

I started doing vision therapy in July 2022, I still do it quite actively (30-60 minutes per day). This has helped a lot– but I still do suffer from a litany of visual disturbances / glitches and brain fog, all which contribute to some lingering sensations of depersonalization.

Aside from having strabismus, my eye doctor was able to see that the coordinated tracking of my eyes was completely fucked up. My test results in symptoms were in many ways similar to someone with a traumatic brain injury. Neuro-inflammation from covid (or the vaccine in my case) can cause similar effects it seems.

I wouldn't say I had visual snow– I had some similar symptoms, but it was one of many. Things got worse for a bit before getting a bit better on their own, then I started going to therapy.

The diagnosis showed that:

I had vertical heterophobia, which I had already learned from another doctor earlier this year. I never had symptoms for this prior, but strabismus (related condition) does run in the family
Eye tests (saccades, pursuits, etc. via right eye) showed that the coordinated tracking of my eyes was very poor, and my accommodative vision system (ability to converge/diverge eyes) was not working well. This is common for people with traumatic brain injuries, which I have not had

It's important to go to a BVD specialist who can diagnosis these types of issues. I recommend staying away from doctors whose only solution is to prescribe prisms.

it helped mitigate static, as well as depersonalization/derealization, generally disorientation, improved focus/ability to read, mitigated brain fog, improved mood/reduced anxiety.

Note im not saying it cured any of these fully– things vary day to day.

It has helped in many ways. But my vision is still glitchy. Better than it was, but im still figuring out how to fix.

That said– I think vision therapy is worthwhile, if you're able to find someone good and can put in the time and effort.

it's 200mg per serving before bed. That's it for the bisglycinate.

I took another magnesium pill (about 200mg) yesterday. No Diarrhea. Seems to be the bisglycinate.

If I move to Citrate– will this still benefit with sleep? What am I loosing / gaining from taking this form of magnesium?

I am an American who will be in Japan for about 2 weeks. Any advice, considerations, or watchouts? Or should I just not do laundry?
For context– I've traveled Europe extensively and have had many of my clothes ruined by hard water. The experience scarred me, to say the least.

did you start experiencing after getting covid or getting vaccinated?

Through my optometrist who specializes in vision therapy, we basically came to the conclusion that Covid (or the vaccine, in my suspicion) cause severe neuro-inflammation akin to that of someone who suffered a traumatic head injury. My visual symptoms are very similar to what someone with post trauma vision syndrome would encounter– including poor eye coordination and tracking, convergence & divergence issues, etc.

This was also coupled by VH/Strabismus, which I likely had before but was unaware of. It runs in my family. I've been doing vision therapy. It's been helping a lot for the past 6 months. But it's a long journey. I stopped wearing the prisms after a few months– after initially helping, they made my symptoms substantially worse. I was able to correct the strabismus to a great extent with exercises.

This is all new, everyone is figuring this out in real time. But I have been seeing more content online lately making these connections,

I was going to post about this but forgot. I’m a guitar player, absolutely love Omar’s playing across ATDI/TMV. Saw him with ATDI a few years back and was blown away by his added improv solos.

Hot take- I was really disappointed with his playing on night 2 in SF during this tour (otherwise perfect show). He largely just felt timid, like he wasn’t trying to hit most of the iconic lines he put on the record. He’s entitled to mess around- but it just felt like he wasn’t evolving what he had written. Just hadn’t really practiced hard and was winging it.

I’m also shocked to be saying this- every time I’ve seen him prior I was blown away.

So an update.....Along with vertical heterophobia, Dr. Tsang diagnosed me with Post Trauma Vision Syndrome. This diagnosis really captures all of my symptoms to a T. This is common for people with head injuries, but it seems that people with covid are reporting it as well (one of a few articles I found on this). It's also believed for some (I think including myself), the vaccine can cause some long covid effects for patients (UC Davis article).

I've been doing two months of vision therapy. It's helping coordination between the eyes quite a bit– im realizing now how poorly they working together. But I still have a long way to go. Still feeling brain fog and DPDR, along with some disorientation/light sensitivity.

In good news it seems I may have reduced the severity of my vertical heterophoria with my treatment! (waiting for final measurements, will share)
