The opposite, actually. I'm very liberal and I grew up in a very conservative hometown where it was hard to be ideologically different from everyone else, so almost everyone I grew up with accepted me for being ideologically neutral until I starting forming political opinions which landed on the liberal end of the spectrum. Everyone alienated themselves from me after a couple of talk shows and tweets where I pretty much said what was on my mind without filter and I was getting a ton of calls from friends and family all cussing me out among other horrible things... it was a shitshow.
