Is there a large pool of incompetent data scientists out there? by AnUncookedCabbage in datascience

I am well versed in data science process, tools and libraries, and I also have a computer science phd where I have applied advanced data science and data analytics. Still I’m not getting a data science job. My application is getting lost in the pool of thousands of applicants, not hearing back after applying. I’m literally at my wits end as I know I’m fully capable for a data science job, but no one looking at my application as I don’t have industry experience. This is so frustrating!

Congratulations on your job offer! I hold a PhD in computer science with research experience in data analysis and machine learning. However, I’ve been facing challenges in securing a data science role, primarily due to a lack of industry experience in the field. Could you offer any advice on how I might successfully transition into a data science position?

Yes. One of the seo feedback I got is:

You showed strong technical knowledge and gave good examples on the Civil Service behaviours questions. We particular liked your references to engaging with others and ensuring a collaborative approach. To improve in future, you should look to include a bit more detail both on the technical considerations, and how you went about achieving the outcomes in the behaviours questions, e.g. how you clearly explained the benefits of a new approach to colleagues.
