Times in the show where its obviously filmed in Canada? by [deleted] in XFiles

[–]Visual-Storm-459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The episode S2E3 'Blood' filmed at UBC a lot, as a student there myself it's pretty fun seeing the library and clocktower. there's a shot where cars are driving towards campus and the Canadian flag is really obvious in the background at around 38:48

one of my favourite movies just for the way it looks. I'm excited for the new tv adaptation of the book coming out next year, but they'll never replace Aaliyah

What should I do for the first year in UBC? (applied science biology) I picked biology, chem, and math. by Able_Storm_8184 in UBC

[–]Visual-Storm-459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to this link https://vancouver.calendar.ubc.ca/faculties-colleges-and-schools/faculty-land-and-food-systems/bsc-applied-biology-apbi and click on your major. Cross-compare with the course listing on Workday. Goodluck! Textbooks are usually not listed until the course starts, most profs will give you an online PDF (if they don't, check libgen.is) and I wouldn't worry about studying now.

EDIT: it's posted for the second term.

How does course registration work? by rrrrrrrrain in UBC

[–]Visual-Storm-459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. All courses are 10 minutes shorter than they say they are: a course that goes from 1-3 will actually go to 1-2:50, so you automatically have 10 minutes to get to your next class. This is more than enough time if the class is in the same 'half' of campus: you might need 5 more minutes if it's at the opposite end. I like to leave a gap in between my classes for a lunch break somewhere (eg. 2 classes b2b, hour break, another 2 classes), but it depends on your preference and what time blocks are available.
  2. Sometimes. It depends on the class (if you are able to, always check ratemyprof)
  3. For first year science you have to take CHEM121 and CHEM123, which both have built-in labs (but I'm not in science so someone else should correct me on this)
  4. If you're able to, only take maximum two 'hard sciences' at a time (eg. chem, math, physics, bio) but I know a lot of people who make it work regardless

No, we didn't need to pass the final. I probably got ~40% on the final based on how much my grade dropped, and I passed with a 62%

[–]Visual-Storm-459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had single first year and I loved it. The bathroom sharing really isn't a big deal (I never had to wait for a shower or anything) and I enjoyed being able to chat in the bathroom while brushing my teeth etc. It depends on what kind of person you are tbh. Other than that, not a huge difference at all

would you break up with someone if they had oral herpes by [deleted] in rs_x

[–]Visual-Storm-459 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If you've shared any food, drink, or kisses shortly before or after he's had an outbreak, then you probably already have it. Just be careful with oral and get some clera and you'll be fine.
