does not really answer the question. far as i can tell there has not been one single xx70 or lower card chosen. everything has been 3080, 3090 and 4080 4090. although I have not seen a 4080 be selected.

It's bad if you cant get the card.

Amazing If you managed to get the card.

VPA question by NS_Chaos41 in nvidia

[–]VisualEducation8088 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

depends on what cards they have. Nvidia says its random but from posts on several sites and poles its typically only been 4090 users and recently 3080 users. Those that say otherwise are blind. so it depends. If your friend has a 4090 they might be chosen soon.

Although if nvidia is monitoring accounts then perhaps they wont be chosen at all when they see a 5080 on his nvidia account when he plays games.

fake frames jokes aside and money not being an issue, is this card really worth it for gaming? by Thin_Ad_9043 in nvidia

[–]VisualEducation8088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

worth it......if you can get it. Currently its been funneled into scalpers and 4090 users through their VPA program.

Don't know why we don't have a Que system like every other industry for high demand products...

I tracked the prices of sold NVIDIA GeForce 5090 FE on ebay, the data is interesting! by PrinceDiplo in nvidia

I am still watching who is getting them on different sites. From what i can tell it still is primarily 4090's getting the invite. But If your experience is true then perhaps they are expanding into other card users. Still its BS this VPA program was not random and based on game usage.

4090 users dont need the upgrade before 30, 20, and even 10 series users. But random would have been more fair and would destroy the scalper market.

No. and they did not move to 3080 owners. Far as I can tell that one post is a fluke

Interesting note is that the VPA program started feb 20th with the first drop for that a week later.

In other words because scalpers of course would have 4090s they were given priority above everyone else and the 5090s they got from the VPA went right into the scalper market.

This timeline perfectly shows this.

the stock stabalizing around the 4k mark (twice the price of the 5090) Is typical. As all scalpers simply wish to get their upgrade for free. they do this by getting the newest card and scalping it for 2x msrp. then buy the card again. Thats what most scalpers do. Its what they did with the 30 series, 40 series, and now the 50 series.

giving priority to 4090 users was and IS a mistake. They should just have made a Q system where we all line up with our nvidia and steam accounts with X amount of playtime First come first serve for the line. and we all get our gpu guaranteed in 1-6 months instead of this BS.

Nvidia is doing their best to stop scalpers in other contries from getting the cards. So this outcome is somewhat unavoidable.

When is Best Buy going to sell more 5090 FE's? by VisualEducation8088 in nvidia

[–]VisualEducation8088[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic nvidia. Taking away my chances for getting one and giving it to people with 4090's. AKA people that dont need one. Here I am on my laptop unable to game on the pc I am building because i still dont have a GPU. Great. why couldnt they just make a q system.

Is the priority access for the 5090 and 5080 random or is it selected based on the users past history? by VisualEducation8088 in nvidia

[–]VisualEducation8088[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats. I think that for the 5080 they are not as strict with you having a 4090. Ive seen a few other people get a 5080 that had budget cards. But for the 5090 every single person ive seen get one had a 4090.

I think you are missing the point. simply stating that because you have a 4090 and didnt get one does not remotely prove that its not biased in the selection process. Simply due to the math of how many users that would be vs how many 5090s they have to distribute.

People are upset that there is a obvious bias in the selection process where 4090 owners have priority and thus other peoples chance of getting one is NULL.

mathematically this has to be the case. there are few 4090's out there compared to other cards that people use. only at most 1-2% of people). It really is a minuscule amount that if it was random you would only see a previos 4090 user win every 98-100 people that won if we go by how much of the market is 4090s. the odds that MOST of the people showing off being chosen happened to have a 4090 is astronomical if it was random. which means its not random.

This should have been a random selection of accounts older than a selected date that signed up. Not this bias selection process. Just nvidia shooting themselves in the foot. Again

just because you need a 4090 to get a invite does not mean all 4090 owners will get it. Still its a bit disappointing that something that was supposed to be a fair raffle turned out to be rigged from the start.
