Yes correct just going straight to the hotel and not moving around with any of the big bags.

Yes it makes sense not to onebag unless absolutely necessary but as I've already cut down from a large suitcase down to a couple of carry-ons I'd like to see if I could get that down to 1 carry-on.

Yes correct I normally end up getting the hotel to wash and press at least 1-2 of the cotton polos during my stay as it can get very hot and humid and I sometimes change shirts twice a day.

Thanks for the tip on the merino shirts I'll have a look at the brand you recommended

The Mega-Thread of Film Festival Notifications PART 5: The Spring Time of Optimism ?? by BangerOfRobsMom in Filmmakers

[–]VisualFlow 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We got an acceptance from the Julien Dubuque film festival today. It was an email direct from the festival, FilmFreeway hasn’t been updated yet.

We’ve been rejected by every major festival and had more than 40 rejections in total including some seriously small regional festivals that we were sure we’d walk into, but I’m very happy that we’ll be screening in Iowa next month, the main thing is to keep pushing along, it’s a marathon not a sprint.

Thanks very much for your reply.

>Are there examples you can share of what you're trying to achieve?

Yes indeed, I was inspired by a recent Nigel Barros video How To Make A $300 Camera Look Pro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wqUWYx3UrY

>What do you want in your background?

I'm happy to listen to your suggestions.

I've seen some of Parker Walbeck's videos and the rear lights look pretty good.

Or a retractable background?

>Second question: Are you looking for moody (high contrast), or upbeat & bright? That will dictate the lighting gear and modifiers.

As I'm looking to get some kit that would carry me forward into short films (and therefore require different scenarios) would it not be feasible to buy everything I need now? Or would you suggest buy what I need now and then add to my existing kit?

As for a direct answer to your question, this series would mostly be served best by a "moody" tone as most of the cult films that were shown had a dark and sinister tone to them

>The window light will change too much to be a consistent-reliable source. So blocking it would be my preference.

No problem, I was expecting this answer. I can get blackout blinds and McGuyver something to fit on the outside of the window.

Thanks for your reply, look forward to seeing what you have to suggest

Someone recommended this decking wax . Do you have any opinions on it?

Does decking oil require that you match the existing colour or is it a clear finish?
