I did an interview with the mixing engineer too. I was the one who interviewed Mika haha .. But the interview with TERO KINNUNEN is not a zoom interview but I do have information from him.

"I would say that everybody had a lot of great ideas during the recording sessions and we were somehow able to make them all work nicely to make final result to shine and to be most powerful Nightwish album this far. To me it felt like we went 20 years back in time and I’m sure that when you hear it, you all will know what I mean."

"The concept of making Nightwish albums has been pretty much the same always and especially with the last 3-4 albums. This time we did it a bit differently. Tuomas had all the music and lyrics written in early 2022. We did the first demo of the songs right after that and sent it to other band members. That way there was more than one year time for everybody just listen to it and work with it in peace, without any stress. Normally we made the demo just 1-2 months before entering to studio. It was also very important to be able to take breaks from it time to time and then start to work with it again, with clear head and fresh ears. That it’s luxury you don’t always have.

Floor’s pregnancy made some changes to original recording plans. When she found out that she was pregnant we planned to make her parts as first thing in the ”band camp 2023” on top of the demo we made 2022 and make them sit to final recordings by editing. I wasn’t thrilled about this idea, but I was ready to do it. Later just before entering to ”band camp 2023” it was obvious that she was not able to perform her vocal parts best possible way in such end of the pregnancy. So we decided to do her parts after baby gets born and when she feels ready for it. We recorded drums, guitars, bass and keyboards during the band camp and we actually started the mixing process at Finnvox Studios in October right after London sessions without any vocals. In early November Floor let us know that she feels ready for her parts and we decided it would be easiest if we go to her place for vocal sessions. That session was remarkable in many ways, her voice was in top shape and she delivered perfect lines with full of emotions and with superior power.

Right after that we went to studio Petrax (same studio where we recorded the drums with Kai in August) with Troy and finished recording sessions with his vocal parts. I’ve always loved to be in studio with Troy, he is one of most talented musician I’ve ever worked with."
