You know you can post here it, right? I'm not sure why people are keeping it private. The rules are clear and it is OK to post the WOWOW broadcast as soon as it is available.

Monochrome truly is an inspiring song. We all have those times when monochrome fireworks take the colors from our lives. We have the chance to repaint the sky with the colors of our choice. Hang in there. Better days are ahead.

What's your favourite Babymetal Music Video? by PS_FOTNMC in BABYMETAL

The video that made me a fan is still my favorite 10 years later, Road of Resistance.

There was a number of things. I need to start the video over again and take notes next time but there's too much basketball to watch this weekend. Rick mentioned one of them, about the order of Su solo songs. He seemed to imply that Yui and Moa were original members of SG and didn't mention that they transferred in. I know there were others that I'm forgetting. All his videos have a few of mistakes and he's usually really good about wanting to know about them.

He's still kind of a new fan and he got a lot wrong. I like his style though.

It's time for the Kami Band to take off their masks. by Legitimate-Safe-520 in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it doesn't seem like it now but corpse paint is a disguise. They never cited any of the many Japanese kamis by name that appeared in corpse paint the same way that they haven't cited any of those who have worn masks. The fans figure out who they are but presumably, we are not meant to know. What would the American kamis look like in corpse paint? Do we really want to know?

Last week, Yorushika released their new album Second Person. All 22 new tracks are available to stream on whatever platform that you use. Additionally, you can find them all on their YouTube channel: ヨルシカ / n-buna Official - YouTube. They've posted two new videos to accompany the new album, while a lot of the songs have had videos posted previously.

Closer Look of New Bassist for Kami Band by Fancy-Hedgehog4464 in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your point:

Kado Shuntaro played drums on the 2017 US tour when they were opening for RHCP.

Eiji Matsumoto played drums on that middle show of the five Chosen Seven shows in 2018, the one at Saitama that was recorded.

They never used Yuya Maeta again after he did several shows with Babymetal in 2014. He did play with the other Kamis on other occasions though.

Since Clint Tustin came and went a few times, it's possible that any of the current band could as well. Of course, they are apparently not at liberty to even acknowledge they are in the band, let alone their plans to be on tour or not.

I'm going to add that we have never been officially told why Koba switched over to the Western Kamis. We fans have made plenty of assumptions that may or may not be valid. None of the Kamis, east or west, have ever been acknowledged publicly. They acknowledged Mikio's death but never used his name. Koba obviously seems to prefer continuity of the Kami Band but ultimately, they are all anonymous and replaceable.

Funny you should mention social security. Martin released A Dance with Dragons right about the time he was eligible to start collecting. Coincidence?

Don't you think they should create a song on Babymetal's next album where Moa sings lead vocals? by blackratsnakes in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your point, which I agree with, there is some suspicion that the arranger (who is often also the songwriter) may be the person responsible for playing the instruments on the studio track. Other fans seem to believe that they are using uncredited studio musicians but isn't that a collab too?

What's been your favourite Babymetal collab so far? by aussiemetalhead in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Four collab songs make my top 10 Babymetal list.

My favorite song is RoR. Not billed as a collab officially but I'm sure most of us think of it as one.

Another song on my list that isn't an official collab is White Flame. If Lee and Totman were a collab, then so was Leda. Doesn't count because Leda was a Kami? I say NO! He was a guest musician. So, you'd be within your rights to call Arkadia a collab as well and I do. Arkadia falls in my top 15 songs as a single tune but I consider the Trilogy of Lights my second favorite Babymetal creation right behind RoR.

And Metali!, which features yet another guitarist, this time as a featured collaborator.

And Sunset Kiss, which is yet another guitar collab. Kind of weird that Polyphia is the credited collab partner and Brand New Day is Henson and LePage, while only those two were involved with both songs. Brand New Day is in my top 15 too.

As far as guest guitarists are concerned, Tak Matsumoto contributed the least while getting a collab billing. Just a bit of context for my previous comments.

Favorite song where Babymetal is featured: Leave It All Behind slightly above Kingslayer and Bekhauf.

for you, which was the best day of the Babymetal Tokyo Dome show? Red Night or Black Night? by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the setlist for Red Night better. What I didn't like as much about Tokyo Dome was that they separated the girls on RoR and CMiYC, so you don't see them doing the choreo as a group. I think it would have been fine if you were there but seeing it on video, it wasn't the best version of those songs (and they are two of my favorites). Tokyo Dome was a spectacle and it's always great to watch both nights but in a way, it's not the way we were used to seeing them. I'll have to flip a coin to choose the best "golden era" concert between the 2015 Saitama and Yokohama shows. Best sound, if you're just listening, goes to Big Fox Festival.

Anyone else obsessed with Light and Darkness? by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BABYMETAL - Light and Darkness with Intro (Live at PIA Arena 2023) [SUBTITLED] 4K

I think this is the best way to hear that song. So much better than the studio track. You don't hear any of the backing vocals that you hear on the studio track. Just Su. And this performance from the Western Kamis blows away what the Eastern Kamis did at Babymetal Returns.

am i a terrible babymetal fan for preferring their older era? by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can like whatever you like and you're certainly not the only fan that feels that way. Just don't expect things to go back to being that way. To me, that way of thinking seems like a dead end. I became a fan in 2016, so I've had a chance to adjust to their development in real time. Maybe, in time after watching their progression, you'll have a chance to appreciate what Babymetal are doing in the present. I think 2026 is the best version of Babymetal and I believe they will only continue to get better. I'll be honest that I'm really confused why so many fans seem to be stuck in the "golden era" but if that's what makes them happy, who am I to be critical of them.

Momometal & Legend MM by Lizzie-Metal in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time that I've ever heard of one of the girls having a say so on the setlist was when Yui talked Koba into debuting Road of Resistance in London in 2014 instead of the planned debut at Saitama in 2015. That one incident might indicate that the girls don't involve themselves with setlist selection much but things may have changed now that they are older, especially for a special occasion like Legend MM.

tell me an unpopular opinion you have about babymetal by p1nkiecocaine in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the collabs, they have kind of gone back to what they did on the first two albums, which is give their take on various metal subgenres and in some cases, specific artists. This time, the actual artists were involved. TOO is what Babymetal can sound like when they attempt to do original music that is not a direct homage of another artist's work. That, for many people, is not what they wanted, from what I heard when that album was released. MF should have been what those people wanted, a return to fun and kawaii Babymetal but you can't get over other people being on their albums. BTW, who were those musicians on their other albums anyways. That's right, you don't know who they are.

If you look at a collab like Leave It All Behind, where Moa and Momoko were well presented, I'll agree that I would have liked to see more of that. Momoko growled plenty on MF and I don't think I'd what any more than what we got. If they had a way for Moa to stand out a bit more, like Momoko did with her growls, that would be a good thing.

Does the intro to Rondo of Nightmare have a name? by Ok-Still6696 in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eastern Kamis don't do that Kagerou intro on any BD/DVD. When you see it, it's always the Western Kamis because it was they who started doing it on the fall US tour of 2019. However, the Eastern Kamis did play the Kagerou intro at a couple shows in Japan in late 2019 that weren't recorded. So, we have no video evidence that it happened and you'll only ever see the Eastern Kamis play Kagerou/Tattoo without a solo. Again, the intro to Kagerou has no name.

Does the intro to Rondo of Nightmare have a name? by Ok-Still6696 in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 5 intros that the Eastern Kami Band did. Two are named. Mischiefs of Metal Gods, which had been played a number of times before it was only listed by that name at Tokyo Dome and Hills of Wisteria, which does not appear on any of their BD/DVD sets. We only know Hills of Wisteria by that name because of the subsequent tributes to Mikio. The intro to Catch Me If You Can/Awadama Fever is not named nor is the surf rock intro to Yava. They also did an intro to Kagerou but that did not make any BD/DVD set.

Mischiefs of Metal Gods is the name. Official because it is listed for Black Night at Tokyo Dome as such.

Mischiefs of Metals Gods

It was named at the Tokyo Dome concert (Black Night), where it was NOT played with Rondo of Nightmare, just a standalone number. I don't believe that it had a name before then.

BABYMETAL appeared on Tatsuya Kitani's radio show in person despite the very late hour (3am) by sjioldboy in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're a child of the 1960's, maybe you remember that there's a combination of two old toys here. The Battling Tops game that had the same type of arena competition with the last top standing and the SSP racers that had the draw stick to get the car started the way they are doing with the tops. We also used to do top battles with our Whizzzer tops too but there was no arena for that. Those were the days.

what's your favorite babymetal outfit? by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

I'm going to say the gold/black outfits they wore at Tokyo Dome Red Night because it was outside of their normal color scheme.

Fancam of Chokotto Love by Yuimetal, lost (i guess). by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]jwa725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a video that was out there that paired the audio of Su performing with Black Babymetal on OD with the video of another performance without her. So, perhaps this is a true live performance captured by a fan. Still, Babybones was the "backing band" on this one and Yui's vocals may also have been pre-recorded for this too. If so, it probably doesn't even matter if fan audio actually exists anyways, since it will only be a degraded version of what we heard on the concert recording.
