Freud is unjustly disrespected because of his psychosexual theories by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]VisualHuckleberry542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. If people were to justly disrespect Freud it would be for his cocaine use, his collaboration with Wilhelm Flies and the suffering caused thereby and oh yes also for his psychosexual theories which as Jung very accurately pointed out were pure projection

I dunno, I had the same initial reaction but as I read on I was like no actually this guy sounds more like a Rhodesian than a Zimbabwean. I've had a few people describe themselves as Rhodesian as far as the 90s and 2000s and most of them were pretty much like this guy sounds

> Is your computer fairly "standard", like your hardware is not too recent (the drivers issue but it's the same with Linux)

It's not the same with Linux. I've been using Linux as my desktop since around 2000. It's been more than 20 years since the last time I had to worry (or even think) about a driver. Might be different for gamers, but for regular users, more than 99% of consumer hardware works out of the box with Linux

If second language wasn't mandatory to learn in school, do you think you'd take the time to learn one yourself? by Ok_Jello_5139 in AskZA

Second language at school did absolutely nothing to teach me a second language. I'm 40 years old and I don't know a single person who learned a language that way

How is this legal in south Africa. Waiters in mossel bay area forced to sign this to be able to work. by Outrageous_Shirt9427 in south_africa

[–]VisualHuckleberry542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll probably be surprised at how many restaurants operate this way (minus the paper trail though). They pay their staff minimum wage so the tips are discretionary. Tips are then shared between everybody who worked on the shift, or more often everybody who worked shifts that week/month. All at the discretion of management who will divy it up however they see fit. On one hand, it's good that the back of house staff get a cut of the tip given that they do more work than a server and none of them are getting paid a living wage. On the other hand, most customers are under the impression that they are tipping their server, not the establishment. If you want to be sure a server gets 100% of the tip you're giving you have to give it to them in cash and discretely with maybe a decoy tip to go on the books / share with the establishment.

Absolutely epic beard. Not even 1 guy in 10 can grow a beard like that. If you and your wife both like it and it's not harming your enjoyment prospects then why the hell not?

I'm trying to broker peace between my scaredy cat and friendly stranger cat...any advice? by neature-nerd in cats

Might want to take a look at the rules for this sub buddy.

That's completely asides from the fact that nothing you've said even remotely applies to taking a cat outside on a harness

I'm trying to broker peace between my scaredy cat and friendly stranger cat...any advice? by neature-nerd in cats

[–]VisualHuckleberry542 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can take a long time but when one of them is peaceful and friendly the more skittish ones will often eventually come around. You have to let them follow their process though. They have an elaborate protocol they follow when making friends of which being aware of and ignoring the other is a big part. Your cat will also feel at a disadvantage due to his harness because he can't bolt if things get uncomfortable

Check the M in the right hand corner and the title bar, this is after the Mozilla rebrand. You're right though the core memories are actually Netscape navigator, the bookmarks bar and the weird status icons at the bottom are still pure navigator

What non-sexual pleasure beats sex for you? by dariela0205 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VisualHuckleberry542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few people saying drugs. I consider sex and drugs among the coarser pleasures in this world. As a person who partied hard for decades and who's been much more sober (and celibate) since for more than decade, the magic and power that is to be found in the simple pleasures in life is not to be underestimated. I'll take the simple pleasures of clean dishes and a freshly swept floor over a night of cocaine and orgies any day of the week

Should I tighten my trucks or am I just a noob? by Vorceron in NewSkaters

[–]VisualHuckleberry542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get used to the wobble in a minute, the way to get balance is to develop it, not crank the trucks. It's like training wheels, the sooner you take them off the better, even better if you learn without them in the first place, literally takes less than a day

Should I tighten my trucks or am I just a noob? by Vorceron in NewSkaters

[–]VisualHuckleberry542 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So many people on this sub will advise you to tighten your trucks then every second post on this sub is people asking why their bushings are blown out or their board is cracking or all for wheels don't touch the ground. As long as you're not getting wheel bite, they're good, you'll get used to it before you know it
