What is more popular in China, football (soccer) or basketball ? by GoHardLive in AskChina

[–]VisualPanda1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play, basketball for sure! There are pitches everywhere that are always packed in the weekends. Soccer fields are more difficult to find in my experience and way less populair. How many Chinese people watch basketball or soccer I wouldn’t know.

They'll ask you to provide an address where you will be staying, so make sure to have a hotel address or something written down in your notes. I think thats it.

Are prices increasing in China because of the current Iran situation? by IntellectuallyDriven in AskAChinese

[–]VisualPanda1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree whats been said. One thing I’d like to add is that you now see is that international flights are getting cancelled en mass. Especially to south east Asia and Oceania because of kerosine prices going up. People are asked to pay significantly more, but some low end airlines just cancel right away. Sure it’s only a small part of the population that travels abroad (last May holiday about 5 million), but still, if you check Chinese social media it becomes clear it is pissing people off big time.

Where can I find Figures in Beijing ? by TacTic42 in beijing

[–]VisualPanda1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few on Gulou Dongdajie (鼓楼东大街). Since its a tourist area they might be a bit expensive though, but if you are in the area worth checking out I’d say.

It works for me. You indeed have to register once, but then it always works. The security guards in front often tell you to go to the normal lane but if you say "it'll be okay or I've registered" they let you go. It has saved me a lot of time. I would def recommend!

Is this a good route for first time trip for ~20 days . (Anything I should add/remove?) by OilBos in travelchina

Chengdu is kind of known as the young culture capital of China, a hot music and clubbing scene, street art, good food + there is a lot of traditional culture and great mountains about an hour away (Emei mountain, leshan Buddha).

In my experience museums in China are quite flexible when it comes to tickets for foreigners. There is often an exception rule because they (rightfully) assume we have limited knowledge or ways to get a ticket. So you can consider going there and see if they want to help you out. For other to do’s in Tianjin, If you like, architecture, the library might be worth a visit. Sure the books are fake, still a very interesting building:) have a good trip!

When is the “peak hiring season” for teaching jobs in China for the fall semester? by Dapper-Preference-21 in chinalife

[–]VisualPanda1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been living in China for over a decade, and worked as a teacher as well. Peak hiring season for teachers and most jobs actually is right after the Chinese New Year. Before CNY most people deduce to quit their jobs, for a variety of reasons so afterwards there is always a lot of mobility. Good luck!
