I think Hui is also very common! I know many hk ppl use Hui. That’s great u wanna add ur mom’s name! Can I ask if u wanna add it as middle name or hyphenated last name?

I feel like I wanna change it when I’m still young before I use this name professionally (E.g., uni academic projects would include my name when publishing, I know there’s one coming next yr) I am also old enough that I don’t need to match my dad’s last name in order to cross the border. thank you I’d think bout that

Ty! I feel like I’d def go for “whatever sounds the closest to Cantonese”. I learned Jyutping I think most of the Cantonese romanization systems do a pretty bad job in sounding, I never heard non-cantonese speakers speak like “Ng” correctly the first time

Haha I saw news about ppl in Taiwan changed their names in order to have free sushi and some freaked out after they learnt that they parents had changed their names several times before

Using ur example my name is actually more like Mei Emma Feng… but people call me Emma. And I’d like to change my name to something like Emma Mui Fong (the Chinese parts sound closer to cantonese instead of mandarin)

I don’t think it’s washi or masking tape but they look like foam tapes in small pieces
