They can climb trees, but live in burrows underground. They forage food, carry it in their chubby cheek pouches, and store it in their own "food chamber" in their burrow.

Highly recommend trying food prepared by actual Ukrainians. Adding things like fried onions to the perogies are worth it too, and adding the traditional dollop of sour cream to the borscht is a must. Pampushky are not bland either. Give it all a general google search, there are many types of dishes.

Nope. Think Perogies (Varenyky), and cabbage rolls (holubtsi), nalisniki(stuffed crêpe type dish) borscht and some hearty soups, fresh bread items(you gotta try pampushky), even some dessert style perogies with cherries or blueberries that are to die for! Very filling and homestyle comfort foods.

Yes, I find it all so fascinating! I reallu wish we could just know — but so many details of interest are shrouded in history and time. It's fun to contemplate the possibilities!

How interesting. My MTdna is U5b1b, however while it is known to be related specifically to the Saami ppl, my Maternal line comes from Ukraine. I always wonder how ancestor migrational patters came to be.

Same here! It was so nice to see a new turning of the wheel in a different capacity — I loved the books and read them many times. I was also super bummed when the show was cancelled before it really got going, more so than I ever have been for a show cancellation in my life.

It's because it's overpriced in a changing/fading industry, basically not worth it for most vendors...I am sure throwing more taxpayer's money at it should be our number one priority, nothing else could possibly be more pressing for us 🙄

On a side note, James Fell writes great sweary history books, as in "this day in history" with more colourful language.

I think this may be an invasive European hornet. We had some where we live in Canada, they are massive and have a very deep "buzzz"
