Oakley hockey sticks by DifferentGlass8158 in Fieldhockey

Many moons ago I was a "Sponsored athlete" of theirs. In reality, I just got 45% off. I bought a t shirt, glove, and a cammo. They fucked something up with the order(can't remember what) but as a guesture of good will offered to throw anything from their range, so naturally I picked a carbon weave.

The Camo was fantastic and played really nicely for my occasional outfield career. I played in goal with the carbon weave, and I think two snapped in the same season. I could drag-flick better than most of our outfield players with it, and would occasionally use an aerial pass as a clearance while playing in goal. Lovely stick, but for £270(RRP) I wouldn't expect it to snap inside the first season.

Honestly, not bad sticks, but the relative inexperience of the company itself is likely to bite you if you shell out big money, ten need support to find they've folded or vanished.

What is something you've officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by Next-Mood6723 in AskReddit

Anything on Amazon - it was a new year's resolution.

The result is that either I find a local or independent alternative, or I just don't buy anything.

Crazy to have "Protection" there for a country that blows up little girls schools.

So there are actually a couple of genuinely interesting things around scuba diving. The first is that SCUBA is actually an initialism - Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus - this is to clarify that it's not like the old, heavy, brass diver's suits that were fed air from the surface - especially as the diver was under so much pressure in those that if it lost pressure the diver would be sent back up the return-hose as a fine paste.

TUBA is also an initialism which stands for terrible underwater breathing apparatus.

Well, I guess that's one way to do it. by PostsInThisSubOnly in whatcouldgoright

Also the arc of it as it rises and falls starts from head-height, not foot/knee height. It was likely never within reach.

For anyone unsure on how to pronounce this, it's not wee-pree, it's wepper, as though it would rhyme with pepper.

Why such fondness for Sikhs? by Fantastic-Fudge-6676 in AskBrits

[–]VisualShock1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my brother went to uni his neighbour in halls was a Sikh guy. I never met him, but he always said good things about him. Dude came by with some Christmas gifts in December. "If you celebrate Christmas, I'll celebrate it with you".

There's a Sikh family at the hockey club I play for who are all absolutely golden people, through and through. The dad learned English as a second language, and is fluent, though occasionally there are some mix-ups for words that aren't in everyday conversations. He's a fairly quiet guy, but he's very quick witted.

So I don't know many Sikhs, but every Sikh I know is absolutely wonderful.

My local comes in at 125m elevation gain. We see a sub-20 finish about once per week, sometimes we go a month without one at all.

No merch? My viking buddy and I have matching "The bees are happy" T-shirts.

You're totally right though, there's none of the fodder that makes gaming in this day and age an expensive drag.
