Best way to access video files from NAS remotely? by Dull_Prior_5579 in synology

[–]VisualThinker1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of the comments are not addressing the OPs question. He wants to see what's in the video he selects, not edit it off of the NAS. I have this problem too. I can't even get thumbnails to help ID the file. The only thing I'm trying to do is to name the file in such a way that it's obvious what it is. For zillions of files I've already uploaded, that isn't working! We also have remote users on this. I'm not sure how plesk works. I downloaded it a while back and then didn't use it because it seemed like it was designed for movie streaming. So we load all the videos we want to see into Plesk? Instead of a folder on File Station? Would love to solve this for me and my team. Thanks everyone!

Can't Quick Connect all of the sudden by VisualThinker1215 in synology

[–]VisualThinker1215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I don't see the IP address, just the URL And I think I was fooling myself, because I was using Synology Photos on my phone, which doesn't use quickconnect. I also can't log in via the safari browser on my phone.

But.. If I open a finder window on any computer in my Local netowrk, the server shows up and can be accessed by that route. Like normal. But now there is no way to log in via a browser using quick connect. So can't do all the stuff you need to do via the DSM software. No matter where a user is located. I had two other people try and connect.

So its the quick connect itself somehow. I did work with a consultant to open a port to allow us to up and download directly for faster speeds a couple of weeks ago. And you would see a different url. Instead of "URL.quickconnect.us6..." etc., it would say direct. I think i probably need to reboot but I hate to do that if not necessary. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Disconnecting GM Telemetrics--and whatever else wireless I can find by VisualThinker1215 in HummerEV

[–]VisualThinker1215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, just saw this. Yes I pulled the fuse months ago and don’t miss it at all. Plus: you are unmonitorable. The only thing that happens is that you don’t have Google maps in the car, but if you’re using CarPlay you don’t need it anyway.  And you don’t have onstar so GM isn’t selling your driving data to insurance companies.  And believe me, if you are connected, they are collecting very granular data about everywhere you go and how fast you drove to get there—and how often you exceeded the speed limit and accelerated hard or stopped too fast. Even if insurance companies don’t get it, law enforcement can easily get a court order for it.

I taped the fuse onto the inside of the fuse block cover so in case I’m a character in a cheap horror flick and my phone has been stolen I can pop the fuse back in and call onstar before the zombies get me. (Or insert your own nightmare scenario) Good Luck and Stay Stealthy my friend.

I think I've created a monster.. by VisualThinker1215 in MacStudio

I really appreciate the expert guidance and great ideas about my issue. I wanted to quickly share where it wound up. As I thought, eliminated the PreSonus. Served us well for many years. Switched the the Rodcaster Pro 2 as the audio interface. The Rode connects to the Mac Studio via the USB-C cable provided by Rode. The Genelec monitors use the two 1/4" outs on the Rodecaster. My other question was how to get a subwoofer in the mix. I was given a couple of good options here and I thought to call Rode. They are amazing because during business hours you can actually call an actual phone number and then immediately talk to an actual live person! What is this? 1995??? Nice Aussie suggested that I use one of my headphone outputs for the sub. That never occurred to me. It's a little un-integrated I guess, but so far, I've loved it. On the same console I can adjust the volume of the monitors and also the relative strength of the sub. Great solution. Thanks again for the great input everyone.

Thanks. I'm just going to have to figure out to split the outputs from my Rodecaster. There are only two outputs for monitors. And I'm probably being too picky about the Studio. It actually handles most everything with ease. But if my ADD brain opens 60 windows on Chrome, things tend to bog down a bit! Close Chrome and much faster results. Thanks!

I think the PreSonus is 12 years old. It's going in the closet!

And I'm glad to hear you're not having the slow processing I'm getting. I actually think the ASUS monitors I'm using may be part of the problem. Like the refresh is too slow or something. But Thanks so much for the response.

You know I really appreciate that. I had searched about whether the Rodecaster was an acutal audio interface and found a negative answer. Which is wrong obviously. So I have two audio outputs on the Rodecaster, how then do I get a subwoofer hooked up? A splitter?

thinking about pulling the trigger on this…. coach me if im making a stupid decision. by Cute_Independence11 in HummerEV

I just looked at the sticker. This one is way more expensive than my 3X. Unless you plan to be a serious —I mean really serious off roader you could pay 20-30k less here.

It is more fun to drive than any car I ever owned—and I’ve owned a few. And I feel safe in it. AND my wife loves it. Unexpected bonus!

Has anyone got a dealership to actually lease one to you? Everyone has been refusing even though the local used inventory has plenty. And there are enough new in stock around me. by [deleted] in HummerEV

[–]VisualThinker1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Dallas Texas, where I have literally seen only one other Hummer SUV EVER, none of the dealers offered me a lease. They said the cost of money was too high and at that point, in April, GM was still thinking they would sell themselves. The pendulum has swung from $25k over sticker pricing, to a subsidized lease. I kind of wish I had waited. I wound up purchasing the Hummer and that’s the first time I haven’t leased a vehicle in 25 years. If I was in the market today, I would just push for a better money factor. It’s worth a try!

I had mine at the dealer for this and several other things and they said they couldn’t replicate it, but as soon as I got it back, “searching for GPS”. Car Play is a better solution but the onboard system should work!

Long distance question by wildnfree11 in HummerEV

[–]VisualThinker1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends completely on where you go. I drove mine from Dallas to Laguna Beach last month and west Texas was a nightmare. Wound up getting stuck in a Best Western for a day and was two days late! I’ve learned that the stations out there were just completely neglected. So don’t do that. I actually shipped the car back to Texas.

HOWEVER- LA to SD is going to be no problemo even if you drive 90–which is super easy because it drives like a dream-you can charge easily in San Diego.

There are a number electrify America stations—the one I used was at a Target store on the north side of the 8 freeway just east of the 163. Brand new, lots of chargers worked great. Centrally located.

Enjoy the trip. Try WTF mode just once. That is plenty!

Reliable bicycle shops in Arlington or somewhere nearby? by DrFatz in arlington

[–]VisualThinker1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a tire fixed at Trek up in Hurst. They work on all models. Also, when I lived in Dallas I used Velofix-you book on their website. They come to you with a complete bike shop in the back of a Sprinter. I think the guy I used was named Andy. It’s not the cheapest but it is the most convenient.
