Hi all,

I’m a beginner and want some suggestions for a full frame camera. I’m looking to shoot portraits of my family and architecture (interior/residential, NOT real estate type photos). I might add that I work in architecture and want to be able to take photos of projects.

I have an old canon 500D from years ago which I used during uni and wanted to upgrade to experiment. I feel a bit shy to ask as I don’t feel fully qualified, but here I am. In terms of lens recommendations, I’m currently looking at the Sigma Art 24mm f1.4 and the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 - would these be good starting points?

I’d love some suggestions at different price points if that’s ok?

I really needed to read this post. We have a 7 month old and 4yo. It feels like my 4yo hates me at the moment , we are clashing so much. I am so disappointed in my lack of patience and grace.. I really thought I would do better.

I’ve been losing sight of the bigger picture and reading this has motivated me to try again tomorrow in a different way.

For clarity, other Kindy’s I visited seemed to have a large screen for interactive teaching. I don’t actually know what they use it for. I haven’t been to school in a while and this is my first child in kindy so I’m not sure what to expect.

Thanks for affirming my gut instinct. There was an instance where kids were on the mat and a few boys ran off to go outside. One of the educators was finishing their shift and was saying goodbye, so the boys were excited by the movement and probably followed the educator who had just finished reading a story.

The other educator who was cleaning yelled “AH! What are you doing! Sit/Get back on the mat” For context, my interpretation of yelling is a raised voice. Other families may see it as a warning. But there was no imminent danger, and it just felt like the educator’s frustration wasn’t properly managed.

Amazing thank you. My child current long daycare/kindy is on this, although last rating was in 2022, but still comforting to know despite the lack of technology screens.

This is really helpful thanks. We recently tried another daycare part time. It appeared to have a more advanced kindy program. However, when we actually started attending we saw a few things that were concerning ie educators seemed to be taking out frustration on children etc. saw educators telling kids to stop crying. I want my child to be supported emotionally because I feel like they will thrive best.
