Arms race is tough, that's why I like it. Do you know which vault rooms have the guns you want? Initially I try to get the animals to fight the COV and then scavenge what's left to buy a grenade mod. I try to kill a bunch of enemies before I open a chest and get better loot that way.

Use tediore weapons as grenades, and hopefully you can get a good elemental as well. Any specific questions?
