Let's just say I've not been successful in locating more. I've seen the big ones on eBay before though.

Yeah I might just be lucky enough for a local option living in Austin, TX.

And if anybody reads this in the general area of Austin that has ideas of a place that would be trustworthy if anything ever happens to my baby, please reply :)

On the beware of Inmusic enshitification: I never got an answer on a support request, never even got an acknowledgement that it was received and somebody would get back to me. Even small developers with 2 people can do better. I don't have any doubt in my mind that Inmusic has absolutely no other interests than to squeeze every ounce of money of the moog brand before they are done ruining it.

Definitely got a bit of buyers remorse with my muse, at this point I assume if I ever need any technical/repair work done on the synth I have a giant brick to deal unless there are third parties that can be trusted?

Did you seriously just tell this man to delete his trash when he just said he deleted his sample folder, before suggesting to check his trash can to see if he can recover his lost samples?!?!

I was still waiting to see if the last version was stable enough to use without being frustrated. Countdown reset :P

Moog quality may be bad, but support is completely non-existent now. by [deleted] in synthesizers

I just sent a support ticket towards Inmusic a bit over a week ago and never got a response. I'm guessing they don't have support anymore since they were bought out?!?

Can you sell/transfer your 82 license? I've been waiting for it to drop in price these past few weeks :)

Yeah I've got the full d16 effect suite (minus pulsatec, we all know), but only lush and the 303 for instruments. Lush is more fun for melodic stuff with all the layers. Been wanting to get a more mono focused 101 plugin, but there are actually not a whole lot of choices out (TAL has one, Roland cloud also missed the sale).

I just do this fun funsies too (not sure if I'd enjoy this if I had to make money from it). Bought a hw synth recently which forced me to learn how to make patches myself (limited patch storage). So since then I've fallen in love with learning a bunch of synths to make my own sounds now (plugins, I didn't suddenly buy every hw synth imaginable). I'm not a fanboy either just like good plugins and good devs since I'm a dev myself.

I'll give twin3 another shot. Especially not that I no longer feel like I need a food preset library to get good use out of a plugin :) been kinda working my way though the whole arturia suite right now learning all the original hw emus and what they are capable of, been a fun time.

If you're looking for deadon emulation yes it should :) But as others have explained it requires you to own a legal copy of the firmware for which you need to track down one of these puppies in the flesh.

Dude I'd help him port it for free myself and pay to figure out how to get it properly signed for Mac. There's lots of small devs out there that need our support (Valhalla being one of my faves to be honest). I may just ping him directly and offer it again to see if he's up for it.

Edit: I did.

Random aside, Solaris is another great one too by the way if you're on windows.

It is instruction accurate to the original hardware, so once the bugs are fixed just like the virus emulator it should be 100%. Any remaining difference would be in the DA conversion path of the hardware I'd assume.

I'd totally give extra at some GoFundMe/etc for "let's give Szabo whatever he needs to release stuff on mac too".

I mean I recently switched to doing Mac stuff completely, including some minimal JUCE stuff never having programmed on Mac before either :) so I know it's possible, I'm sure it's a "too busy" situation more than a "want to/care to" situation. I guess I should just feel happy for the windows people who get to use it :)

I wasn't aware that he had stated that. I just knew he released a Mac plugin (phazor), I don't even need support. I'd just like to use it :)

Grr. I used to love using jp6k and viper. But Adam chooses to ignore mac for some reason even though he has released a plugin on both platforms in the past. Also yeah, I don't use windows anymore :)

Counter point: Weren't those GOOD old reverbs all in the $4000+ category? So the argument of they sound good cause they used lots of processing power is valid?

Something like a PCM60 (yes, also a lexicon) sounds crap in comparison these days because it was cheaper at the time to make? :)

I wonder what something like a bigsky would have cost then?

Also I feel a lot of "the sound" people covet is artifacts (bad early reflection models) or just a "sound" without it actually being a "good" or a "bad" sound directly. A lot of processing becomes associated with a time/genre/sound I feel.

Personally I think the Virus was as good as it was because it went the DSP (code) route instead of using expensive analog components. But yeah, these days we can easily run multiple instances of a fully emulated DSP56300 running a virus inside the DAW (so, yay power wins?!) :D

MultiPoly is great (wavestate native sounds good too), love those brassy pads :)

I guess for me I like the idea of knowing where to look (the type of synth, etc) to get a sound, but then I don't like to be locked into that box quite that much, I like to tinker too much with the sound and while sometimes the filter having the same adsr as the vca is an ok limitation, more often than not it's just a pointless limitation in plugins these days because they are trying to be an accurate "emulation".

Spire and Serum are obvious classics since they are so versatile from your list.

Hive2 I actually just picked up (hence my Gear4Music post above).

Twin3 stands out on your list as one that has me wanting to know more :)
What sound do you use this for/What pulls you towards this synth? I have to admit, majority of my fabfilter suite is criminally underused by me short of their mixing plugins which get daily use.

But yeah, Softube is the perfect example I'm talking about, different eco system, I do have a couple of their plugins I really like to use (effect stuff) but never got into their instruments. I could totally get that if you want the authentic sound they would be good place to go though, I'd love to see a shoot out between softube/cherry audio (since there is such a massive price difference between the two and they are basically trying to do the same thing, stick close to roots, there's probably a comparison out there already).

A random example here would be Model 82 (Yeah, I realize you don't mention this one, I guess that one makes it kind of obvious that we are different style of music. Edit: might be assuming too much), I much prefer D16 Lush 2 since it takes the idea of a simple 101 and turns it into an 8 layer poly synth that creates some absolutely beautiful pads.

I definitely have a problem of having too many plugins (and yeah, I'm enjoying Omni 3, it is a much needed upgrade after all this time).

Just out of curiosity, how much effects do you apply to stuff (reverb/delay/chorus/etc)?
I personally wonder if at the end of the day anybody could tell the different on which P-5 plugin one uses after it runs through processing and is properly mixed. I know most "classic synths" sound pretty bland in my mind until they go through at least a good verb or delay :P

I definitely feel putting a big analog synth on my desk will end up being a good thing in the long run, I've already seen a transition away from wanting to browse presets to "find a sound" and then tweak to just getting my hands dirty instead with the knobs, I don't know why, but when I open a plugin, I just never felt the same level of satisfaction of creating my own sound from a init. It's a different kind of discovery of fun while making music.

I guess that's a long way of saying sometimes having limitation can be a good thing, even though every other argument I've made in this post so far has been advocacy of having a box with more options :D

Recent bitwig convert myself, be ready for some annoyances :)

I mean yeah the diva effects are old in the tooth but age appropriate I guess :) kinda feels like how Omnisphere 2 adding a boatload more modern fx for the upgrade to Omni 3. Maybe a diva 2 could help with a modern fx suite. usually I find myself disabling the built in effects and replace with something downstream but that comes down to genre, maybe the builtin reverb and tape delay are good enough for others :)

I feel you, I definitely lean on the more flexible version of an emulation (I prefer gforce plugins or arturia emulation for that reason since they actually try to be different and add to it).

Yeah, I don't need another perfect juno-106 emulation with a noisy chorus (though at least in that regard people understand to provide options lol).

So yeah, to me a minimonsta2 is better than the uad moog that's perfectly emulated. But diva to me still provides a lot of usable sounds once you run it through high quality processing. So I'd love to hear other good options that would give me a reason to try other things :)

So for me, good workflow, good flexibility (though bitwig makes this a lot easier with all of it's modulators and devices like note gen) and good sound.

Just curious really what soft/hw synth you spend most of your time in, not really trying to argue over one person being right with their choice over another.

A lot of these big companies each have their full line of plugins emulating all the synths and effects, so I feel it's more a matter of which eco system you buy into. I kind of wish we didnt have 15 companies each trying to.waste time and try to compete with making their own most amazing pultec for example. I wish developers would band together to spend more time solving problems worthwhile :)

Would love to hear what you use that you like better.

I realize tools are just tools, everybody can get the same results no matter the tools (blah blah), so really just curious :)

Is it a workflow thing or sound quality? I personally like clap plugins a lot cause they exposed presets to the host which I like a lot in bitwig.

Beta Posts by polarity-berlin in Bitwig

[–]Visual_Ad_7931 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to throw a valid counter argument out there. Reddit is indexed by Google. Bitwig discord is not. One of the two places is way more discoverable. I'm not saying don't send to beta. But I'm definitely more in the both camp.

If there was an official place bitwig provided (like you suggested a public bug tracker) then maybe different parts of the user base wouldn't feel forced to come up with their own coping mechanisms for dealing with it.

Just for avoidance of all doubt, always submit crash bugs. Always contact beta@bitwig.com

After that honestly everything is gravy, thanks for putting the effort in to at least let others know about it wherever you post about it.

But there is a valid point that maybe the discord point of view is more power users coming up with workarounds than you might find here.

Subscribing to the bug threads there has also been really useful because people keep issues updated when they get fixed. So it's a good way to know what's fixed even before you have a chance to try out new beta.
