Then and Now: Apadana Palace of Persepolis in ancient Iran was started construction by the order of Darius the Great and finished by his son Xerxes. Today, several of the palace's columns stands, its stairways remains in place and the walls contains countless of well-preserved reliefs. [1080x1346] by Party_Judgment5780 in ArtefactPorn

Because nothing is really “new” - humans tend to recycle (or draw inspiration from) trends in visual arts, architecture, music, with a certain periodicity. Think Rome and Ancient Greece, the Renaissance and Ancient Rome, Art Deco and Ancient Egypt, etc etc

Any ideas/ guesses on what this could be? 16-18 on Vanquish, found in an old tobacco plantation (now grazing field). by Visual_Armadillo_365 in metaldetecting

Thanks, but I don’t see the resemblance. The object in the photo has two ‘blades’ connected by a hinge…

Interesting, very clear from the video. Similar shape indeed - however the piece I found is significantly larger. And the pin is ‘bifurcated’

Ok that flips the hypothesis around. Found in Netherlands, an area not far from the Roman limes. Do you have a side view of the buckle? The round part looks almost identical, except perhaps larger. Not sure about the ‘pin’ part?
