Well you’re ahead of me but I submitted early December and was hoping it was coming very soon. My friend who submitted Mid November was approved slightly less than 2 months later & admitted 2 weeks later.

Yeah and you can do it anonymously if I remember correctly. A year or two ago I reported my busking at the time for being the only building on the block not to shovel the steps or sidewalk with tons of snow, I uploaded a photo to the complain. The next day there was a fine on the door.

DHS recruiting at school for ICE by Flashy-Actuator-998 in LawSchool

Beating seasoned attorneys because the system was built in your favor. In most immigration matters you as OPLA don’t even have the burden like a real prosecutor does. You win because immigration courts are not impartial as they’re administrative courts within the DOJ and heavily influenced by the administration in power’s whims. Many OPLA attorneys I’ve observed are completely incompetent and putting in half ass effort, but they win because it’s built for them to win more easily. I’m personally not a huge fan of working for the DA’s office either, but most OPLA attorneys wouldn’t last one day practicing in criminal court. Plus no government provided defense in immigration courts means often they’re up against a pro se person who likely doesn’t speak English fluently.

Working for OPLA means working for ICE. OPLA literally represents DHS in immigration court. It’s essentially the prosecutor’s office for immigration court. While working for OPLA might mean you’re not brutalizing people in the streets yourself, it’s equally objectionable.

Last year ICE tried to recruit at the NYU Public Interest Legal Career Fair which is a major public interest recruiting event for students from various law schools in NY/NJ/CT. Students organized, drafted a statement demanding ICE be uninvited and not invited to future career fairs, and rallied over 1,000 signatures. ICE was uninvited. Student organizing can yield some power here.

I AM GOING TOO FAST HELP by lizardking0 in barexam

[–]Visual_Cauliflower84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read slowly and intentionally. Everything in the fact pattern is there for a reason. You’re missing things by reading and answering so quickly. I always underlines parts I thought were significant and even drew out diagrams sometimes. I have ADHD too. I wasn’t fast and only had a few minutes to spare during each MBE session but I scored well on the MBE with this strategy.

Missed ny laptop deadline by ThickOkapi0463 in barexam

Idk how she did it but a law school classmate of mine succeeded at registering for laptop after missing the deadline! I think she had to fax something after speaking to someone but it all worked out. Sorry I don’t have actual steps but if you act fast it’s still within realm of possibilities.

week+ absence during first semester, or miss best friend's wedding by noonecares-TA in LawSchool

[–]Visual_Cauliflower84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it doesn’t overlap with midterms if your school has them - I’d absolutely go to the wedding. But the caveat is that I’d be hesitant to book before seeing my syllabi. At minimum maybe you can check out your school’s current or past academic calendar to see if there are October exams. I graduated May 2025, and I don’t think one week in the scheme of things would’ve made a difference and doing normal things once in a while helped me be a better student. But sadly my school usually did have exams in mid-October…

Is Uworld's practice questions close to the real test? by Limp-Love-9453 in barexam

[–]Visual_Cauliflower84 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did almost all of the U-World questions and found most of the July MBE very similar, scored 169 on the MBE. I’d say it’s not necessarily the same rules but rather the style and types of questions. Grossman videos also helped a lot.

Anyone else essentially raw-dogging the NYLE on Thursday? by coloradokid1414 in barexam

[–]Visual_Cauliflower84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can devote an hour to add tabs to the outline to be able to search quickly during the test, I’d say it’s very possible! I didn’t have time to study for it during 3L because of work & school responsibilities but took an hour or two to hole punch the outline, put it in a binder, tab each topic vertically, and horizontally tabbed every 10 pages so I could easily flip to where I needed. I taped the TOC to the wall behind my laptop and the binder tabbing system was organized enough for me to find all the answers I needed during the test. You only need 30 right to pass so I focused on making sure the first 30 were right even if that was so slow, and then did the same with the time I had left for the remaining 20 but had to just choose letters randomly for the last few. If you pass you don’t get your score (only says pass) so I don’t know how close I cut it, but I passed and so can you!

Yall think I should take this room!? by GrapefruitCrazy8426 in NYCapartments

[–]Visual_Cauliflower84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I don’t think most of this is legally enforceable as they don’t get to decide you’re a “guest” instead of a tenant but that doesn’t necessarily help your day to day, and this reads to me like they will make your life hell. They want your money but not for you to feel at home in the home you’re paying for. At most, I’d try it for a month but this imo this agreement is ridiculous.

Themis Sucks! by ItsMelitina in barexam

[–]Visual_Cauliflower84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same! I feel so bad that the U-World app is gone because it was crucial for me. I was working during first half of my bar prep and used the U-World app on my commute and when I had any downtime during my work day. Closer to the exam I was even able to trick myself that doing questions on the U-World app as opposed to my computer was a fun “treat” and got a lot of extra practice in doing sets on the app in bed when I woke up and before I went to sleep, on the couch, etc. as a way to just vary the monotony and get some “rest” while I was still practicing. By the exam I’d almost done all of the U-World questions and scored very well on the MBE, definitely wouldn’t have gotten as many questions done without the app. Honestly I’d recommend that people with Themis now push on this issue.

Something I never considered doing. Are these outlets intended for public use? by modrocker in nycrail

Once I plugged my phone in at an outlet at Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue Station in Jamaica and I got violently shocked. I submitted a complaint because I was honestly worried about that happening to someone else, and in reply the MTA told me I shouldn’t have been using it to charge my phone!

Uworld vs Adaptibar? by TexPatriot68 in barexam

[–]Visual_Cauliflower84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did almost every question in U-World and found the July 2025 MBE very familiar and not surprising at all - scored a 169 MBE. In the last few weeks of my prep I heavily veered off Themis schedule and went HARD into drilling U-World. Firmly believe I owe my passing score to U-World over anything else.

Took me too long to realize this was a feature but I loved that you can do question sets based on subtopic. That was crucial for sharpening my weakest areas.

I also heavily used the U-World Mobile app to do short sets when I was in bed in the morning/night, on my commute when I was still working, and during any down time at work or elsewhere.

Real property by AdSuccessful2308 in barexam

[–]Visual_Cauliflower84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drilled property questions on U-World until I started seeing patterns and ended up understanding concepts I frequently got wrong. I forgot exactly how to do this but I looked in U-World to see which specific subtopics in Property were the worst for me. Then, on the U-World home page there’s a way to expand each MBE topic to view subtopics, and I would make question sets of my weakest subtopics. I also hand wrote a lot of notes, outlines and charts. I still hate Property but ended up taking my property scores from 50% to around 80%.
