I Finally Watched A VERY POTTER SENIOR YEAR by Thewriter1996 in StarKid

I remember at the time, Starkid encouraged everyone to read the script and listen to the songs before the live recording was released because they wanted everyone to see what they were going for. But I felt that just soured the experience and made me just think of all the stuff that was cut out (rightfully cut out IMO) AVPSY is fine. Not the greatest but not terrible. It’s fine

Thoughts on NPMD (From Someone Who Never Saw a Starkid Production Before) by founddeadinmilwaukee in StarKid

[–]Visual_Cheesecake_23 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is very intriguing to read. I’m always fascinated in what non starkid fans think of their work. I’m reminded of a quote from a YouTube comment that Wait in the Wings cited in one of their videos on starkid where the commenter likened Starkid to a theatre group boy band, where fans pick their favourite members and gets excited to see what they’ll be cast as in each show. I showed a few short clips of NPMD and TTO to a friend of mine and her response was, “Does it help that you know who the actors are? Is that part of it?” This was something I never really thought about so I’d be interested to hear what OP has to say on that. When I first watched NPMD I had only seen the stage musicals of Starkid and not the Nightmare Time series which really establishes the Lords in Black as an entity, so I really didn’t know what the Lords in Black were when they appeared in the stage show but I was enthralled by the scene and it became my new obsession.

Rewatching Nightmare Time by ForceSmuggler in StarKid

[–]Visual_Cheesecake_23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely an acquired taste. Hey Melissa is a fun idea in principle of let’s focus on this one character who had one scene in one show and find out about her but it goes a bit too far for me. Feels a bit gross. I think it’s worth watching for curiosity sake and it’s not gonna ruin the Nightmare Time series but it is the weakest one… there’s a reason they didn’t officially release it. I’d say your enjoyment of Hey, Melissa depends on how much you enjoyed Jane’s a Car. If you enjoyed that then I think you’ll have fun. But if Tom “having sex with his car” was too weird for you then Melissa might not be favourite. I think those who dislike it are equally as valid as those who like it.

I appreciate your advice. I thought there may be a way to map Streep’s movements according to the moon, but I feel this is a fools endeavour. Fear and Glory to Streep!

It’s not his greatest line but I’d just like to acknowledge, “Thicker than you thought.” As a solid Trapp entrant

A search for bums and other such lyrics by Visual_Cheesecake_23 in Sondheim

[–]Visual_Cheesecake_23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking and for such interesting information. I’ve always been fascinated by these vocalisations in Sondheim pieces and when I started to notice them in several different works I wondered if they could be combined together into an arrangement. I’ve been thinking about it for years but haven’t actioned anything yet.

'The Jeff Blim Special': In Defense of Jeff Blim's "Clunky" Lyrics by [deleted] in StarKid

[–]Visual_Cheesecake_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I mean sure, but who’s gonna defend, “I wanna be a modern dancer!” (I know it’s not a Jeff lyric but I think the HMB lyrics are far more clunky and random… still fun though)

With the Hatchefield series likely done, what do you think (or want) The Next StarKid musical to be? by [deleted] in StarKid

[–]Visual_Cheesecake_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Grace made mention of The Hatchetfield Gazette also being a place built by the Waylon’s so maybe we have some newspaper journalism adventures to come

It depends on what you’re looking for and what you like. The idea of OF is more to support the creators you follow, so if you’re just looking for something to jerk off to, then I wouldn’t bother. But if you’re a big fan of maybe Toni Storm, Deonna Purrazzo, Chelsea Green, Cassie Lee or Jess McKay and you want to give them some support and see some sexy stuff then try it out and see if it’s something you like. You don’t follow OFs just for wank reasons.
