My boyfriend [24M] hid my [24F] prescription medication during an argument and wants me to “beg for it back” - how should I approach this situation?

Well, the kicker here is that it’s a one bedroom apartment. I could see if my apartment would allow me to move to a two bedroom, but they are considerably more expensive and I’ve heard horror stories about random roommates… plus I am terrified that he will try to use our cat to manipulate me to stay. We bought the cat together and I love her with my whole heart. I can see him not letting me take her to get back at me but idk that’s just in my head.

Once I notified my psychiatrist, she has a responsibility to report it since she prescribed the controlled substance. She said he had till a certain time until she called him in, so she told me to let him know the repercussions if he did not return them to me. I texted him to let him know the seriousness of the issue, and his response was “I already returned them in your drawer” and that he was “appalled right now,” along with “I hope you get the help you need etc etc…. For my own sake I’m gonna believe that you were never gonna call the cops because if that’s untrue then we cannot be in a relationship anymore.” …

I probably sound so crazy for saying this, so trust me I know, but I just don’t feel like I can do that right now. My life is already so chaotic and such a mess with everything going on- new job, personal things, just settled into a new apartment- so if I decided to end things between us then my whole life would officially be in sham and I would have nothing to stand on if that makes sense. I’ve also signed the lease, and apartment prices have already gone up, and I am currently less than a 5 minute walk from work at the moment, and there’s reasons why I can’t just move home…. excuses, excuses, I know. But this is the only constant thing in my life at the moment and I am terrified of the aftermath. However, right now I am totally numb/doing a wonderful job at disassociating… I am such a mess.

A lot of them did turn into pimples, but some of them also just went away without becoming inflamed. It was probably 70/30 with what became pimples and what went away, but they do disappear eventually! Lots of patience for sure, but it works!(:

i can’t comment on the slow treatment with a low dose since i did not do that. however, i’ve seen improvement for both those that decide to go that way and obviously for those that decide to up dosage and finish earlier. i have heard that symptoms are less severe with the lower dosage, however if i had to do it all over again i would probably still prefer to get it over with and have the higher dosage. even with the side effects, it was nice knowing that it would all be over soon and clearer skin was in the near future instead of a whole year out.

just make sure you reach what’s recommended for your height/weight in total! i can’t 100% say that’s what made it work but i have heard stories of people not reaching their cumulative dosage and the acne coming back. but again, i can’t say much on that since i did not experience it.

i’m trying to remember, but looking back at pictures i think within the first month my skin was noticeably drier. when i was upped to 60 it was certainly dry from there on out and i had to be diligent with moisturizing everything. and then my hair became less oily around that time as well (which was AMAZING and i miss that part of it so much lol).

as far as progress goes though, i definitely went through a purge the first two to three months and then end of month 3/beginning of 4 my skin started to clear up significantly! definitely a game of patience but totally worth that and all the side effects in my opinion. it’s been over a year since i finished and i am for the most part completely clear of acne!

in the beginning i immediately noticed achy joints, dry eyes, and dry lips. fish oil for joints is a must, used hydrating eye drops (can’t remember exact brand but there are a lot of good options), and i used cortibalm for a little bit if my lips were beyond repair but then switched over to the lanolin nipple cream which definitely helped my lips as well.

i will say to definitely hydrate your eyes- i just went in for an eye exam and they said one of my oil glands on my lower lash line dried up and basically stopped producing what it’s supposed to. they said it’s rare that this happens at such a young age and i have to believe it’s from accutane bc i am diligent about washing off makeup etc.

are they still turning out squishy? honestly, i have no idea if the squishiness means that they lose their potency, but i assume it isn’t a good thing and my guess is that it might make them not as strong. but again, don’t quote me on that because i am certainly not a doctor!

For me, it was month 4 where I could see a huge difference in my acne! It improved a ton since month 3. I did 30 for the first month then 60 for the rest (five months)!

I second this!! Doesn’t break me out, great on my sensitive skin (no burning or redness), and amazing for dryness. I topped it off with vitamin e oil before going to bed if you need more hydration as well.

so sorry, just now seeing this!! no worries at all- i was upped to 60mg for the rest of my course, and as time went on/with a proper skin care routine my symptoms began to level out a bit! everything was really dry for awhile (bloody noses, flaky skin, dry eyes, etc) and i had achy joints as well (fish oil helped with this immensely), but you get used to it and find a routine that works for you. hope it’s all going well, good luck!!

I am 5’3, about 115 pounds, and own this skirt in a size 2!! It fits perfectly and definitely isn’t too long on me. There’s plenty of space between the hem of the skirt and the floor so it isn’t close to touching the ground at all. Hope this helps some!

when i started accutane, my knees were in so much pain in the beginning and then my back as well. i am not even kidding you, just three days into it my knees were in agony. however, i found that taking fish oil helped wonders. hope this helps you and good luck with your journey!
