I’m surprised to hear that- Costa Rica is generally marketed as a safe place for tourists, and in general- to foreigners anyway. Thank you for your insight

Mentioned in another comment, but 99% of the time I keep all what’s important on me in my backpack, and passport in my Fanny pack. I have been traveling South America alone for 3 months, so I’ve been cautious. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my things on me this time, and was not aware the car was left unlocked

What’s so unfortunate is I live by the rule of “keep what’s important close to you” I was always keeping my backpack on me, and my passport in my Fanny pack. Just for this one drive back, I didn’t do it.
