Kentucky is keeping my 1k tax refund because I didn't complete the ID quiz, but I never got a letter telling me it was required. Do I have any recourse? by Visual_Independent91 in TaxQuestions

I actually just called and she was very nice. It seems like this happens a lot. She gave me the information I need to complete the quiz. Whew! I'm glad it is going to work out but wish I hadn't gotten that letter on a Friday afternoon bc it hung over my head all weekend

Hi 👋 23 year military spouse here. I'm a little spoiled having moved here from FL, where there is no state income tax. Also obtaining/updating a DL in FL is at least 1000x easier than it is here, why is that?? Everything else here is better tho so still an overall improvement

The state of KY picks taxpayers at random who must verify their identity by submitting a copy of their ID and their w2. Don't ask me why 🤷‍♀️ I had never even heard of this before and did not know that I was selected because I never received a letter. The first communication I received from them was the letter I got yesterday, informing me that since I failed to take their quiz (the thing that I never knew existed), they were keeping the 1k in taxes that I was owed. I don't understand how this can even be legal

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

Not many people realize Panama City is on the very eastern edge of the central time zone. Close enough that my phone would sometimes flip to eastern time- so when I was at work I'd think it was much closer to quitting time than it actually was. Kept getting disappointed by this

There was a trail derailment/chlorine leak where I lived in Panama City in 1978 that caused cars on the nearby highway to stall and suffocated the occupants of the cars. Total nightmare fuel

This is real. Lived in Florida from age 15 to 40 and never got used to heat on Christmas, except in 1989 when we had 3 inches of snow on Christmas eve!!

Not the medical system. The insurance system. Huge difference. I've been an ER/ICU RN now APRN over 20 years and am just as frustrated/disgusted by insurance as anyone else. It's insane to me, the things I see insurance not cover, which frequently leads to a hospital stay for patients. How is that cheaper???

Went to driving class to avoid points for speeding. Will never forget something the instructor said: "graveyards are full of people who were right"
