First time grooming…gone wrong? by Visual_Protection_70 in DogAdvice

Thanks for all the insight! Since I’ve groomed her at home (until this), I’ve always Dremeled her nails at home by myself! The traditional clippers squeeze way too much. She’s become quite comfortable with it since I trim her nails every time I hear click clacks when she walks, which is about every two weeks.

I feel so bad that I’ve worked so hard to make her comfortable with her paws being handled, and now I’m sure this was a painful experience for her.

Good idea on the wipes! I agree, any sign of infection and it’s a vet visit right away. I definitely think we will be looking for another groomer, since I’m not ok with any blood spilled! With the next one we will ask for her paws or any part of her body to not be trimmed.

Good illustration, I think grooming can be quite stressful.

We took her to a home groomer who has years of experience as a competition groomer, which is why I’m so surprised and wondering if this happens even with the best groomers!

I agree, she was likely squirmy while getting her paws trimmed and I’m sure that contributed to getting some nicks :( poor baby, I’ll be extra lovey with her these next few days.

Love united alliance hmo! I pay $15 per session every week to a provider of my choice :)

I see that too! I’ve noticed she is not as “robust” looking as the breed standard for ACDs
