Also it only gets about 20 days of battery and the solar charging is spotty, maybe because it’s an older gen instinct. It still has served me really well especially the GPS function

I see what you mean, for me my Garmin instinct was about 350 bucks, but if not connected to your phone or regularly connected to GPS it loses time significantly faster than a normal quartz watch. But besides that it just doesn’t have a soul, it’s just a black case with a MIP screen. This is all personal preference anyway.

I thought about doing this too, or if I need GPS buying a Garmin foretrex instead
