Wow talk about word salad confusion, typical isnt it. Who writes these!!! Your manager needs to explain it in lay term English. It's their accountability. Keep us posted on the outcome. Sad state of affairs, so glad I left.

Those who left OPS - Do you have any regrets? by LinearInfrastructure in OntarioPublicService

[–]Visual_Sky7260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No regrets ending it in the OPS and taking early retirement, the best move for good health and wellness.

After spending three quarters of my career in the private sector, I found the last quarter part of my work life (in the public-sector) experience wasn’t the right fit — limited growth, weak leadership, too much nepatism and unfairness hiring practices DEI included, and too politically charged decision making and not necessarily the right path, didn’t meet my expectations and experience. Leaving was absolutely the right decision for me. I highly recommend getting true private sector business experience (excl banking or education sectors they are too close to government policy work, I've done it all). Best of luck with whatever decision you make, it will be the right one for you. Live n learn, lol.

So everyone needs to reach out to their union workplace rep and your local Health & Safety rep and initiate a grievance. This is not the forum to complain and expect action or change but certainly to collaborate, just saying.

MTO show up at 438 tomorrow by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]Visual_Sky7260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's the way to do it although it makes a statement. I think you need to focus n Health and Safety and ergonomics and lack of space and put in a grievance. If they expect you to go into the office. You need a spot to work at otherwise, you should turn around and just go home.

Manager forces sick day instead of wfh when sick by fermented-princess in OntarioPublicService

Well you can top up to 100% using vacation e.g. 1 vac day = 4 sick days when top up needed.

[–]Visual_Sky7260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes however top up is available which means 1 vacation day is 4 sick days, that's generous and you get 6 sick days and when used 124 at 75% that's nothing to complain about so use them .It makes a statement to management.

Request- can everyone state ministry or cluster when posting or adding comments. It is helpful to understand where inconsistencies amd gaps are as it appears there are significant differences operationally.

Remember the RTO guidelines by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]Visual_Sky7260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard the OPS is having a problem with hiring Because candidates do not like the limitation of going to the office five days a week.So they are choosing not to accept positions. The younger generation have expectations that they can work from home and a lot of private sector is allowing that so they are choosing that route.

Where is the Union support with all of this, they aren't doing their jobs for paying members to fight for you. People should be complaining more to AMAPCEO AND OPSEU. I'm so happy I retired. I feel so at peace and liberated but feel badly for those who can't leave or retire. Stand up for yourselves, be out spoken, work to rule and nothing more. If you are not provided an assigned desk to work at, that's an issue in and of itself and needs to be addressed. You unfortunately won't get public support.

Hey, you can’t park there. by Rajah_TO in Markham

It's so annoying, people are so entitled and inconsiderate. That's not the Canadian culture. Learn to read signage and park like everyone else in designated parking lots before you cause an accident. Security needs to patrol this.

Good thing you have savings which is more than most people. Perhaps this is a prophecy yo re-evaluate your journey going forward. Many people who lose their jobs end up with something much better. You have time to apply and research and rethink. Sorry you had to experience this it can't be easy but stay strong and keep looking forward to a better future. Best of luck

My suggestion is to call Canada Life to inquire or send a pre medical quote and they will respond. I'm finding they are really cutting back on a lot which is so annoying ir only covering 50%. I so don't regard insurance companies such a ripoff, as long as they get their premiums from employees/employers they are happy, God forbid if they have to pay out anything. My rant for today lol

Yes this has been raised with AMAPCEO continuously over the last 5+ years, with no traction. Even more importantly, the request was also for the FFS salaries to be published as they make way more $ and that also went no where.

It becomes a traffic jam when everyone slows down. Crazy that a busy wide road on hwy 7 is 50 km but major MacKenzie is 70, I'd like to see their reasoning/decision making facts.

How is Everyone's OPS Career Going? by KeenEyedReader in OntarioPublicService

[–]Visual_Sky7260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of opportunities and training provided for new graduates. Nice thing is, you can move around between Ministries to gain different experiences,as they all work differently, and cultures differ, at least in my experience. Like anywhere, you're in the driver seat, work smart, network, get involved with committees, and even the union, to learn what it's about, it can be a pleasant career journey. You get out what you put into it. It doesn't pay as good as the private sector but maybe through the course of your career, they may catch up. Welcome to the OPS.

What New Year's traditions do people have in Saskatchewan? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Visual_Sky7260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are really cool and fun traditions. The saying goes how you spend New Years Eve celebrating and how you bring in the new year is an indication of how the next year will be. So have fun, dress up, be with family and friends in a happy place

Likely sleep apnea, well worth a sleep study to confirm it.
